Mitch
Good stuff as always Mitch!

Im just pulling your leg, man. You play what you want, it must be fun otherwise whats the point.

But I say this, if you want to get better and move forward you need to play on the edge of your ability.

My leads suck and Im trying to improve but I cant move forward because I don’t practice leads and don’t know what to practice or how.
The point is, before my accident a few years ago, I could play like that. Seeing you guys do what you do makes me want to get back to that. Getting speed back is tough at this point.

I am trying to play out of my comfort zone @Ramo and @Headache are inspiring. But I lack the physical tools

I forget who has said it in the past. But Sabbath-ish and Stoner Metal riffs (didn’t know that was a thing until recently) seem to be my comfort zone.

Play what YOU want to play brother!

Music is a personal thing for everyone. We all have our likes and dislikes. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.

Life is too short to worry about what anyone else thinks.

I'll never be a Randy or Eddie, or even any number of 12 yr old kids shredding on YouTube, and that's just plain fine.

Enjoy whatever it is that you do to its fullest.

You mean even if it’s doing a Sabbath style Barry Manilow mashup?
Or is that the line?

:guitar::what:

I long ago quit trying to go beyond what i am capable of and began sticking to what I like. Shredding is awesome and i applaud anyone who does it, but for me, i found my place and niche in something else.

I have pushed myself into doing more intricate things and punching above my weight class and got some results. But it wasn't making me happy really and it's never been what "I" wanted to do.

Same goes for the style of music: I will always be a metal fan to the day I die probably. But there's a certain brand and style of metal i favor over others and like sticking to it. At the same time however, i am equally as much a fan of hard rock and classic rock and grew up with that getting me into guitar. But i hadn't been playing it and have growing less content with what I HAVE been doing as of late.

I just picked up a guitar for the first time in a month, the other day. I started playing some old stuff from my early days and actually felt happy for the first time in a long time and like you said: its about enjoying what you do to the fullest.

Some wise words!
