I just replaced strings on my SG with NYXL 10-46 nickel wound D'Addario strings. My old strings were original from the factory. My first impression of these strings are, they feel like they bend easier than the stock strings from Gibson. They also sound brighter, although that could just be my old strings being .... old.

Anyone else use these strings? I want to know if the easier bends and brightness is all in my head or if that is the common consensus.

One thing for sure, they are pretty pricey for a set of strings.
 
I have heard many good things about NYXL's. There are some here that use them that will be able to give you explanation. I don't use them , I do use D'Addario Nickel Wound and am impressed with them.
 
My ESP came with D'Addario from the factory (9-42). I really like the way they feel vs my usual super slinky strings. I just wanted to try out the NYXL to see what they were like.

I'm with you, I don't know if the extra cost is worth it, but I'll see how they compare after some playing time. Did you notice any differences?

I tried them years ago back when they first came out. I really don't remember the details, just that I went right back to the regular XLs on the next string change because I didn't think they made enough difference to be worth the cost.
 
There's no telling how old the strings from the factory were, even before they were put on the guitar, so any string change should feel more slinky and sound brighter IMO. Gibson branded strings are now manufactured by D'Addario, and from what I can tell are basically the same thing as their pure nickel ones. A shame too, because when Gibson made their own strings I think they were easily the best on the market.

Personally I can't stand D'Addario strings - I find them to be unusually uneven in string-to-string tension and very "zingy" sounding (I also detest the silly colored ball ends, but that of course is purely aesthetic), but others really like them, especially the NYXL's it seems, so maybe you have found the ones that work for you.
 
I use NYXL and they last me longest without breaking on me. I find i have more stable tuning with them. Only problem is they go rusty on me. Next im trying nyxl x set.

yes they do have a bit more brightness from regular sets.
