Favorite metal guitar amp(s)?

Yeah, I am really coming full-circle on Marshall tone. I played them for many years, primarily a JCM 800 (2205) along with a few others, and then started drifting away from them around the late '90s/early '00s. Tried out a lot of different things (Riveras, Buddas, Mesas, Peaveys, even some Fenders), settled mostly on Mesa Boogies, but lately have been really feeling the Marshall vibe again. I got a little DSL-1 a while back as a practice amp and honestly I play it more than my Mark 5 at this point. Got me to thinking of maybe getting one of them JCM 800 Studios.
Do it. No maybes.
Just do it.

JVM really does cover a ton of ground. Haven't used my JMD enough to judge.
I should.

Sounds like me - except in the 90s I blasted thru a JCM900. Then, I cut to Blackstar, Peavey, Jet City, Boss and modelers til buying a DSL1hr about 2 years ago - absolutely love this little thing.

For modern metal tones, In drop B and C tunings the best amp I've played is the Marshall mode four.

For classic metal, and in std and drop d the best tones I've made is through the Marshall TSL 100.

I have also made some very useable and noteworthy brutality from the DSL, the Peavey 6505, JSX, and the Surprisingly wicked XXL!
Also the egnater Armageddon and vengeance as well.

My favorite is the mode four, mostly because it's 2 amps, with several great voicings, and the foot switch has a solo button.

As I mentioned in the OP, I'd love to own a SLO100... (or even an SLO30) but can't afford those. So, this is hands down the next best thing, IMO.

JCA50 designed by Mike Soldano. This thing roars. Might have to eventually get a JCA100 head and some 412s, just for one last "blow the walls down" fling.

I find my TSL easy to get very good hard rock old metal tones esp with an OD up front to tighten it a bit. Great sounding amp!
