them VOX rhythm 5s are very functional -- as is the Roland Cube .......

Hey Strummer wanna have some real fun ?? wire up an external jack to plug the VOXIE 5 into say a 12 inch cab..... or a 4x12 cab......

(just make sure its the kind that cuts power to the internal speaker when you plug the cord in ;)
 
I think an acoustic can be a great instrument in the right setting. Its a subdued sound and emotional at times. Doesnt mean i like mindless strumming ala "Michael Row Your Boat Ashore" poop, however lol. Its best sounding honestly, in an open picking style or even finger/flamenco style.

Good example of an acoustic sounding BETTER than an electric is Alice In Chains Unplugged: while songs like " Would?" and "Rooster" work best in the powerful amped up gain sound, tracks like " Nutshell" and "Over Now" highlight why an acoustic is awesome.

Also, would Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", The Allman Brothers " Midnight Rider", Neil Youngs " Heart of Gold", GNRs "Patience" or Kansas " Dust in The Wind" sound right amplified? You know the answer

but could these songs...........not be adequately recreated........with a "fake" acoustic -- in say a bar-- or wedding hall-- or county fair -- if a performer with 1 guitar was performing -- to a group and couldn't SWITCH his whole set up to accommodate an acoustic for 1 or 2 songs......??????? ... to make a living ... and rock a gig..........

you know the answer.................

Well i can certainly agree with that for practical purposes, playing live. Its not easy switching back and forth in the middle of a set , let alone a song. If you have that means and a good sound guy: an acoustic on a playing stand is the best choice but yeah, this pedal would be fine for that
 
and there BOYS AND GIRLS is the krux of the WHOLE tech vs TUBE argument

BOB the gigging working trying to feed his family musician (or the young starting out busking 3 days a week gigs 2 nights a weeek) WHATEVER -- working joe in 2021 does not need a 100 watt marshall and 4x12 cabs to create HIS TONE

he needs light fast switch on the go dial in a Joe Walsh tone -- dial in a Jimmy Hendrix tone dial in a grahm nash tone -- "at the request" of a drunken reveler in the second row ......... on the fly

a vintage multi high dollar coveted wonderful TONE FILLED tube amp is lovely -- for those who can
1 afford it
2 USE it in its intended manor
3. pay schlubs to haul the behomouth around
4 have studio time to adjust all the lovely nuances to get it JUUUUUUUUUUUUST right


then there is the other 999.9% of the planet -- that has to play for 45 min in between soccer and taking the kids to grandmas..... or work ... or mowing the lawn -- or playing a 2 hour set at BOBS COUNTRY BUNKER

some have BLINDERS on to the reality of what the CURRENT world needs.
And frankly the need for a WALL OF MARSHALLS (though it sounds AMAZING and is all part of the experience of KISS on its FINAL TOUR---note FINAL!!! ;) ) is a thing to behold ......... its just..............................not as practical for the MAJORITY any more....

like they did decades ago about that petrol burning contraption "horseless buggy" that aint worth a poop......................... go ahead ....... Ill wait

Makes sense to me.. nothing wrong with big amps , but i can sound as good, do less lifting, record with a 3watt - 35watt. It will all sound good, i promise.;)

Lol as a person who has a said wall of Marshalls of both SS and Valved heads; im not one to argue this talking point ( @Mitch Pearrow SJMP can concur as well!)

Ive used both for over 26 years of my life and have zero issue with either. Ive heard Valve amps that sounded like a hot wet bucket of dog poop and then ive heard valve amps that were near god-like. Same exact statement goes for SS amps. In my case? I think the amps i heard that sounded bad weren't a design problem but rather the player using them: Me lol

Just assuming every amp dialed in the same way was my philosophy starting out and i later realized how stupid that was. You can take two of the same exact models and they often wont sound precisely the same. Takes some sitting down and adjusting by YOUR ear very closely

and............Ive owned about every configuration from BOUTIQUE 1 off hand wirededs to mass produced cheap crap ...... and really...............................

I STILL SOUND LIKE ME (which is moderately depressing)

As I told our astute @Thatbastarddon its like motorcycles -- im no engineer I dont CARE how the bike makes 132 hp -- coal... gas...electric... pixie farts... DONT MATTER but I do know I am grinning under my helmet because it does.................

what annoys the damn HELL out of me is the people who go out of their way to SHIit on others because THEY LIKE the way their non tube gear sounds ....

that is douchness
thats snobbery
that is uncool
and THAT is not what this place is about

I think its fair to say the early day SS amps ( early-mid60s to early 70s) weren't so great. There's a few exceptions from that era ( CCR swore by SS Kustoms and did just fine live with them for example). But the biggest issue was reliability, techs who hadnt figured out how to work on them yet and some were thin and fizzy sounding. That all began to be a thing of the past once technology caught up with designers and they began studying how to improve the sound.

Most SS amps from the later 70s to mid 90s made huge leaps and bounds in sound ( Randall, Peavey and even Fender and Marshall built amazing sounding amps in that era). Nowadays? Most are near indistinguishable in sound compared to valved amps in many cases. With modeling amps, its even more so.

Snubbing someone over what they use is petty and often reflects on the player themselves who's throwing stones: if you are as great as you think, you could use nearly anything and sound pretty much the same.

Pricetags and brand values are meaningless if you cant use and justify them

I absolutely adore my 68 and 73 Kustom amps! I don’t know, or care, why….I just really enjoy the vibe…not just the look, but the sound. Especially for my bass rig. I’ve tried a few alternatives….modern SS, tube guitar amps with neutral eq….I always come back to that 68 K200A.(the 73 K250-2 is no slouch either)

I have several amps , and have sold several amps, and i have played many amps in the store, But my Orange 35 RT SS is just the amp, that keeps me interested and holds that special place for me. And my favorite small SS package with big sound my Blackstar Fly 3.
