Tube amp and head phones

I'm I alone in using headphones all the time when I practice on my tube amps which have this feature? I don't live on a 30 acre spread on both sides. Some of the folks on the Marshall forums act like you're a freak and out of touch, unless you blast a 100 watt amp at "ear bleed" level to obtain the "tone." What's your view on this boys?
 
I have a 100 watt Marshall (THANKS BOCC69) yet it has not been above VOL level 2 (Sorry BOCC69) ---- since it arrived.....

My Tube amps are 5 watts.......and I attenuate them.......i do not like LOUD.......I did "loud" in my youth....and have hearin issues to prove it......

That said I dont use headphoes........but--- if the misses wasnt half deaf too I would!!! lol
 
Do what ya got to do i say.I live about a 1/4 mile out of my small town with no neighbors real close and very seldom do i just blast the amps,i do on occation. Thats funny about the Marshall forum hahahaha,would be nice to even HAVE the Marshalls to blast all day lol.
 
90% of my time practicing is with headphones. Blackstar HT1RH, iPad into the aux input for YouTube lessons and backing tracks, and a good set of over the ear headphones.

We might be twins separated at birth Kerry! I love love adore Ht-1 combo and the Ht-1R head. I use the head with the reverb way too much all the time and simply love the heck out of it. I put a Jensen C8R speaker in the combo. I got the stock Blackbird put away sealed in the Jensen box.
 
I have a fender mustang head, with a headphone jack. I'm told it sounds great thru headphones, but haven't got around to buying a long enough cord to try.

I should get it going, because the head has a lot of effects, and I think I would enjoy it thru phones.

I usually keep volumes low, and use the modeling amp. But, When I do crank it , it's tube time with one of my Marshalls.
 
If I want it dirty, I call on Greta...Fender Greta that is...
If I want it fairly clean, I call out Junior...Epiphone Valve Junior that is...
I have a few devices that provide headphone access, but I prefer a bit of air pushing around me. I don't like playing with headphones on.
I'm fine with using the volume knob on my guitar to clean things up on the Greta...that one, to me, is nearly the perfect practice amp. Turn it on, turn it up, and adjust the guitar volume to suit the task at hand.if I want it to sound big, I have a 1x12 cab to plug it in to. It just works for me...and it's no louder than I keep my TV.

I remember those Gretas. They seemed very cool. I can pull some good dirt out of my Epi VJ head with pedals. One of my favorite tones is Deluxe Strat with bridge/middle S-1 button down on VJ with an EHX LPB-1 booster. That amp comes to life with an incredible tone. My favorite clean is Fender Vibro Champ through input two ( not one! ). The Jensen alnico magnet P8R I run in it gives it a chime which rivals that of a 60s Vox AC4. That is saying alot if you ever heard a decent one of these.
 
I don't really enjoy practicing through headphones; I'm always worried that a wire broke, the noise is causing chaos in the neighbourhood and the wife is screaming at me, but I cannot hear.
 
Again I like to KNOW whats going on around me..........dont like my ears "covered"
when you live in a zoo constant auditory monitoring is required for everyones sake........
 
One of my tube amps has a headphone out (Mesa Mark 5:25) and I do use it sometimes when I want to keep the volume down. It's a feed from the built-in CabClone, so the tone is pretty much identical to what comes out of the cabinet provided you have a decent set of cans.

When I bought the amp I thought it was a feature I would never use, so I am pleasantly surprised that I get a fair amount of mileage out of it. Wish my other tube amp had it now.
