If you like pets...

I came home last Thursday and Milo, our 9 yr old black lab mix, his whole neck on the left side behind and below the jaw was hard and swollen HUGELY. Lots of mushy swelling / edema around his whole neck.
He didnt seem bothered much by it, but you cant really tell; sometimes they dont show pain if it is not acute.

Vet took us right away and checked him over.
The swelling had increased within that 45min period from I noticed it until we were sitting in the exam room waiting.
Most likely infection (from what, we dont know) She checked his mouth and teeth, wasnt up into the cheek.
Slight fever.
Didnt seem like lymph nodes as the rest were normal.

She gave him 3 antibiotic shots and sent us home with oral antibiotics.
It is almost gone now, but the first few days it wasnt getting better; just didnt get any worse.
Very relieved.
Glad that Milo is doing better. But what might have caused the crazy infection? Poisonous bite by a snake or insect? A bad tooth?

This dummy disappeared from my rooftop patio last night. I was up half the night walking around the neighborhood looking for him. My eyes were almost swelled shut from sobbing. He is Facebook famous now. My friends came to lay new flooring for me this evening & spotted him way back under my deck. He was frozen in fear. I got him out & he's shook up but safe. If you love pets prepare to have your heart ripped out of your chest if something bad happens!

Glad you have a happy ending. We do get seriously attached to these fur balls. Regardless cats or dogs. And feathered in Adrians case.
