So, today was my day off, and I decided to lounge around with my coffee for a bit this morning. I heard the recycling bin get emptied by the disposal truck. So, I decided that it was time to venture out in the world to greet the day... Well, I trudged out to fetch the empty bin. I was halfway to putting it away when the silhouette on the gable fence registered in my brain...."that's a guitar stand on a black box across the street." So I give it my best Steve Martin, "what the hell is that!?" look, and venture over for a peek. What do you know, it's a little Peavey Blazer 158 practice amp with a piece of paper taped to it that said "free" with (I think) a sad face.

Well, lets see what we've got here...so I take it in, wipe it down, look it over(missing a retaining nut on the input jack, but look, a new cable!), and plug it in....holy sh*t it works! Just don't tug on the cable. Hit the workbench, and find an appropriately threaded nut, swap it for the not likely used music input, and put the original style on the instrument input...awesomesauce! An hour melts away in my kitchen with my P90 SG standard....

I know....here they come...

It does say made in USA on it, YAY!!! It all works fine too. I guess someone just gave up. Oh well, I found a student for my last little Vox practice amp last year...now I have a replacement. Not a bad little bedroom beater...and the price was right.

Nice find.
You can get a 10" speaker in there.
I did it with the one I had.
I wish I had one kicking around...but all I've got is a 16ohm 12".
Maybe I'll solder up a 1/4" female jack so I can plug it in to any of the cabinets I have kicking around here.
What kind of 10" did you put in yours?

I had a generic no label 10" laying around.
It improved the sound of the amplifier to the point
where I was able to use it for small church gigs.

Thanks Tony! I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for something to squeeze in there.
I haven't run any pedals through it yet, but I got some decent sounds out of it as is. It just has that boxy low end(I'm talking eq) 8" speaker thing going on.

FRIGGIN SWEET MAN!

I had a curbside Peavey Rage for a bit as well......my was missing a handle and was in bad shape--- but an old hemp belt and 2 screws fixed the problem.

Wife found it outside of a house that had been foreclosed in a pile by the curb---literally---

Curb side treasure is always a cool find. Someone I know bought a Fender Super Champ (all tube short of the extra effects) for $20, because someone found the amp on the side of the road in a ditch. Needed some TLC, but what a nice sounding amp for 20 bucks and a little TLC...
