Dog sitting our youngest sons pooch this week. He’s the big guy. Ours is the red head. Big boy lives in Chicago so he loves it when he comes to our house. Gets to roam the yard leash free. Explore the timber. The two of them go off and “hunt.” 1630008269692.jpeg

What specific breed of dogs are these?
The Big boy looks pretty fit for a city-dog, ha ha!

Big guy is a Weimaraner. He’s about six weeks older than ours. Which is a Vizsla. Both four years old. Both can be “Velcro” dogs…. As in. They won’t leave your side and they love to cuddle. A cuddly 45 pound dog is one thing. But when an 80lb dog decides to land in your lap…. You take notice. :pound-hand:

Can I get some extra feed --- these things eat a LOT!
I bet they do. The big guy eats pretty good too. Typical dog. Put his bowl of food in front of him. You hear this vacuum cleaner sound and 3 1/2 seconds later…. All gone.

Our pooch on the other hand doesn’t Aways even eat twice a day. There’s days we set out her breakfast and she’ll ignore it till supper time. She actually eats more like a cat…. Like whenever the heck she feels like it and not a minute sooner.

Feeding time around here is a military maneuver with Athena (tan and white Atol) and Odin eating in one room (father daughter team they dont fight) -- Murphy (black lab ) in another, Ben (the 20 year old Wheaton terrier) in another ....because well he IS A TERRIER ....and they DO NOT back down ...out manned out numbered out gunned -- Ben does NOT GIVE AN "F" that old 40 lb bastard will be the FIRST to attack (not kidding) and will fight to the death over a cracker! --- the Chiahuahas and rat terries eat in the other room all together (they are all amigos) every day .... we do the dance -- and every day Im thankful no one was KILLED at dinner time

That’s crazy. But it’s so obvious you guys love you fur babies. That’s a pretty awesome thing.

Thank you we do and the feathered ones too lol
Anatolians are an odd breed we got them to protect the rest of the herd ... and that they do -- well -- VERY well. But they are not "obedient" in the come sit stay fetch sense -- (I tease) as they are "dumb" to that "dog characteristic" of obedient command hound. However they are actually capable of rational logic and determining a course of action in a given situation. And are a great companion dog.
Will they fetch come and sit ....... maybe, if they want -- but probably not -- do they know enemy from friend and when to attack and defend .and "have your back" ........yes -- they do. They have been bred for centuries for just that
The Lab and others are all rescues --
Athena (tan and white Atol) was born here in the living room -- this is HER hood ....period.
Odin came here as a pup (tiny believe it or not) and is Athenas Father. Willow the Mother has passed sadly.

They are family fur us :)

I came home last Thursday and Milo, our 9 yr old black lab mix, his whole neck on the left side behind and below the jaw was hard and swollen HUGELY. Lots of mushy swelling / edema around his whole neck.
He didnt seem bothered much by it, but you cant really tell; sometimes they dont show pain if it is not acute.

Vet took us right away and checked him over.
The swelling had increased within that 45min period from I noticed it until we were sitting in the exam room waiting.
Most likely infection (from what, we dont know) She checked his mouth and teeth, wasnt up into the cheek.
Slight fever.
Didnt seem like lymph nodes as the rest were normal.

She gave him 3 antibiotic shots and sent us home with oral antibiotics.
It is almost gone now, but the first few days it wasnt getting better; just didnt get any worse.
Very relieved.

another SIZE graphic
both dogs are standing (and trying to steal more paper from my trash--
the black dog is a 90 lb lab (Murphy) ....... the brown MASS in front of him is an Anatolian (Odin)
