Any experience with a Celestion Ruby 12" speaker

I am interested in this speaker, its just a low watch version of their other Alnico speakers.
Anybody ever hear or play through one?

Celestion Ruby - Celestion
It's better to have a speaker(s) that's rated 2X the power of the amp or more.
Especially if you are using boosters or distortion pedals, etc.
But if you buy 1 good speaker - it's so much better, you will probably keep it forever.

No experience with any Celestion alnicos, but I couldn't help but notice that most of their 12" alnicos are $300 these days. What amp(s) are you wanting to push the alnicos with?
I am thinking of using one in my Princeton Reverb.

The 35 watt rating of the Ruby should keep the Princeton's bass under tight control. Maybe the Ruby will add a hair more on the mids. Highs should be sweet, of course.

I should sort of try this myself. My Allen Amps Sweet Spot is sort of based on a Blackface PR. My Spiffy 16 combo cab has a 12" Scumback Scumnico. I could easily connect the Sweet Spot to the Spiffy cab, and give it a try... :hmmm:

Right now my PR has a Celestion 10"Greenback. It sounds good for a 10,but when I hook it to my Mesa Lone Star cab with a Celestion 12" Vintage 30 it really comes alive.
My PR cabinet is cut to accept a 12" speaker. This is where I am at so far. Still gathering sound clips of different speakers. The Ruby caught my eye because of the power rating being in the PR range.

Funny that you mention Weber, I was digging in my storage cabinet and found a Weber 10" Alnico last night. Plan to test it out this weekend.

Cool!

I replaced the stock 10” speaker in my little Vox with a 10” Weber Blue Pup Alnico many years ago. It was a real improvement.

I don’t know if Weber still makes the Blue Pup, but it’s a good speaker.

TWO AND A HALF YEARS LATER…

Calling @ChasFred ! Whatever happened to this speaker adventure of yours? I ask because recently I became interested in the Celestion Ruby alnico as the speaker of choice to load into an empty 1x12 cab I’ve had sitting around for a while.
