He had bowed out due to health issues from an undisclosed surgery ( im gonna assume Heart related or possibly even cancerous) and they named a replacement who had toured with Keith's solo act, the X-pensive Winos.The Stones wrote the songs, but it was Charlie who showed the band how the songs were played.
