Crooks in Nice Neighborhoods:

Don't know why this popped into my head, but thought I would share it...we live in a very nice area. Well, last weekend, the neighbor calls us about 2m to say there was a man in our backyard and when they challenged him, he told them he "lives here" and then raised his shirt to show the handle of something. I pulled my police issued (given to me upon retirement) Mossberg M500 and loaded up two #00 buckshot and that followed by 2 low recoil 1 ounce slugs. I chambered the rounds silently (I guess training kicks in) and I lit him up with a flashlight from about 15-20 feet away and commanded him to show his hands. He complied immediately, dropping what we later found was a baggie of Methamphetamine. The dude was cool at gunpoint, so it was clear he had been at the end of a weapon numerous times. I had him walk out backwards to the sound of my voice and I warned him simply (instinctively in English and Spanish) that any aggressive movement will be met with deadly force.

Once out in the driveway, I sent him packing with a warning never to return. The cops showed up a couple of minutes later, photographed and retrieved the bag of dope and took him into custody on an outstanding warrant for home invasion robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault and attempted murder. About 20 minutes later, I was out in the back yard and found the .38 caliber Taurus pistol he had dropped. Cops came back and retrieved the gun. Turns out it was stolen...imagine that.

Just the crazy type of drifters you find even in nice areas...

That poor misguided soul didn't deserve such hostile treatment at gunpoint. Shame on you Robert. He was lost and needing directions to the sanctuary part of your city, not a ride in the police car.

Tony, that reminded me of the time my once sighted and now blind friend was getting perverted in his language.
Something about masturbating came up,,,, so I absolutely could not resist. I said to him, " Haven't you heard, that stuff will make you go blind?"

Good for you Robert. You very possibly might have spared a very tragic situation suffered by an innocent person and their families. If it wasn't for your training and confidence, that meth-head would have no doubt continue to cause mayhem. Meth and the dependance that it brings, turns humans into shameless monsters.

I'm relieved that you weren't forced to use your firearm to its full capabilities. That surely would have brought about a Can of Headaches to deal with.

I think he really thought it was the police, because of my voice and commands...either way, a happy ending...

By the title I thought you meant this place
