I just wanted to check out the new video thing on the forum….

video deleted…forum space

So…just goofing around with the touch sensitivity of the Kemper a while back…waddaya think? Kinda OK at emulating an actual tube amp? Or just another pale imitation? As the video shows, I don’t touch the volume controls at all. This was done before I ever attached any foot controls. I think it does a fair job at handling picking dynamics….What do you think?

Interesting!!!!!!

That was cool! Your video mimicked my own experience with the Kemper. I think it reacted very naturally to your strumming dynamics. It cleaned up and got gritty accordingly. The notes were clear. What profile did you use?

Honestly? I’m not sure….But knowing me…a Mesa 5:25…probably. I seem to like them(there are several in my library). Although, nowadays, I do also like a Mesa DC5 profile too. :)

Sounds pretty good, and would love to hear it compared to the actual 5:25. I don't own a Kemper, have only played through my friends, and I thought it did fine with dynamics but the illusion was shattered by the decay: It started sounding "weird" as notes and chords died out and had digital artifacts like every other modeling/profiling amp I have played through.

It was very interesting to see the profile respond to varying pick attacks. That's not common (in my experience) with SS platforms.

Same here. In fact, having started out on all SS amps and processors, the touch sensitivity of tube amps kind of threw me when I first tried them. It took me awhile to get used to it. Now, it’s very much a natural thing.

I will continue to instruct from and gig with my tube amp. The sims just make so much sense to me for how rapidly we can create a tone for a given project in the studio where time is money...

Yeah... Kemper does it well, and you showed that off nicely.
What speaker were you using?
I'm not going back myself. As a matter of fact I bought a second one.
One I'll leave at the practice studio, and one at home, each with their own Kabinet.
Yes... I have a problem...

I was just running straight to my interface(Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK). I was monitoring via Yamaha monitors fed by the board(not the computer doing the recording). The Soundcraft board was assigned as the sound source for the video capture.
