It went good, Man...it felt good. I was up against some really crazy dudes with designer equipment, but I am good at what I do...maybe not the best, but good. The band will announce their decision this week....

Does my Gibson still qualify as a "Gibson" with aftermarket pickups and vintage harness??? There is nothing Gibson left in it...maybe that's why it sounded so good!!!!

Nope, I wore (no joke) a dark blue long sleeve, jeans and blue suede shoes...

Here's the audition setlist:


1) Rock You Like a Hurricane
2) There's Only One Way To Rock
3) You've Got Another Thing Comin'
4) Rock and Roll Band
5) Immigrant Song
6) Breakin' The Law
7) Summer of 69
8) Animal
9) Run To The Hills
10) Plush

Every audition is a 4-5 song mini performance with all the smoke/lasers/videos, etc., so I guess they are also grading you on your ability to perform as well....

Since the first I ever heard of Def Leppard, I loved the High n Dry album and that song, Let it Go.
Something about the Pete Willis days brought out the more raw times of Leppard that hooked me at 17 yrs old.

Another of my favorite cuts from that album was High N Dry Saturday Night.

Hope you killed it at the audition Robert

Frank, you are like me, Left eye dominant. Had same issue shooting. Glad I am ambi naturally.
Thanks a billion for the Hagler footage. I loved that guy growin up and since I grew up from 64-early 80's we definitely had the best times to be a boxing fan.

Also, I just love the 60s slim taper neck on the Gibsons - by far the nicest neck I've ever played.

Here is a 336 (same size as the 339) next to 2 LPs and an SG. Pretty close in size and a whole new sound

Hmmm, I see what you're saying. But, I don't know it still looks kinda unwieldy. I will make an effort to hold/play one next time I visit a guitar shop.

Trivia....Almost ALL of the rhythm guitar on Pyromania was cut by Pete Willis before his exit from the band....

Personally, I wouldn't consider performing without a Marshall...but a Blackstar ID260TVP would make a GREAT practice amp!!! The nice thing about my DSL40C is I can easily move it in my Mustang... :-)

Goldtop P90; why would you do that to me???

The 336/339 is obviously a nice guitar, but the looks do nothing for me. The fire beast scares me. The ebony LP is nice. But, that P90 goldtop is the one!
