3 hours of moisture and pressure has made a significant difference. I just re-wet and re-set and will give it a few more hours, maybe even until morning






The center of the join line is still proud however, and will need some sanding.

You should do a carve top. Those are thicker in the middle.

I put this shooting board together last night from wood I had on hand. It is not the best example and I will build a better version soon, but it helped me correct the join line on the top wood. I am going to try to flatten the wood some more and attempt to glue it up tomorrow.

That’s what I use for stain. It’s the quicker picker upper.

It is glued up square, with a nice seam.





However, it is not flat!



I will cut it down to guitar size, flatten a bit more, and then clamp the heck out of it when I glue it to the back. Onward

This top is now Tele sized. All of a sudden, the cupping issues seems very "clampable"

No, that is very close to actual body width, so the knots will be inward. If anything crazy happens, I will just make a plug out of scraps, which would be even less prominent than a knot
