AC 30-- venerable -- historic --- ICONIC

They are not my personal favorite amps, but by god a dimed AC-30 is about the loudest thing I have ever heard.
When I was on worship team we had a guy with an AC30. When it was in it’s sweet spot he’d blow everyone off the stage. After enough “constructive criticism” about his need to turn down…. One day he showed up with an AC15. Perfect.

Loudest I think I ever heard were John Entwhistle and Pete Townshend's Hiwatts in 1982. Hearing was muddy for 3 days afterwards.
About 1983 my wife and I caught REO in Cedar Rapid IA. I’m sure they weren’t close to as loud as The Who….. but stupid kids we were…. We were close enough to the stage that when they set off the pyro during Ridin’ The Storm Out… we felt the concussion and the heat. It was awesome and hearing afterwards was about the same as you. :pound-hand:

im sure most of you know this, but for those that dont...
the ac30 is really not 30 watts...its more like 33.
i never understood why they would install the 15 watt blues in them. im sure many of those speakers have been blown by people cranking their 30s.
the cc has a switch in the back where you can lower it to 22 watts, and thats what ive kept mine on since ive had it for fear of blowing my speakers.
i might do something the next time i change tubes.....i have 2 8 ohm eminence alnico red fangs i might put in. they have a sensitivity rating of 103db whereas the alnico blue is rated at 100.
yep, drop those puppies in there, put the switch back on full power, and crank that sucker. ill have a super duper loud ac30.
my neighbors better not piss me off.

The loudest concert I ever went to was...The Plasmatics, at Ford's Theatre of all places. I had seen Motorhead and thought I knew what loud was; Let me put if this way: it's a good thing I never wanted to have children because I think that concert eliminated the possibility.

I had this one custom made for me. It has the EF86 tube in the preamp, and it now has early sixties Goodmans Audiom 60 speakers in it. I wanted a clone of Rory Gallagher's AC-30 from when he was in Taste, and his early solo stuff. It delivers the goods. Loud as all hell.

It also has a bunch of Telefunken, Brimar, and Amperex tubes in it.
