27mph in a 25mph zone: the most confusing ticket ever

So here's an update: they want $150 for the 2mph over ticket. I told them ill contest it. Never have before and really only ever got one other ticket , 15 years ago and that was a stop sign violation. But if they are that needy for money? Ill make it worth my while and drag it to municipal court ( which is seriously a break room in their town hall). Ill turn $150 into $300 real quick on court fees just to prove a point

How is it in the US, can you technically be fined for any speed that's over the limit?

Here it's like this: there is a "technical deduction" of 3km/h (1.8 mph) from what the radar reads. If the speed after this is less than or equal to 6km/h (3.7 mph) over the speed limit, you'll be issued a warning.

Up to 10km/h (6.2 mph) over the limit is a 100€ fine. Up to 15km/h (9.3 mph) is a 150€ fine. Up to 20km/h (12.4 mph) is a 200€ fine. After that it's decided based on your income. If you make a lot of money (and stupidly have it declared as wages), this can be tens of thousands...

Finland, Home of the $103,000 Speeding Ticket

When I drove a bit more for work (up to 50 000km/year) I got some of those "big" fines because the country roads alternate between 60 and 80 seemingly by random, it's hard to keep track of it in the dark and with no other traffic... Mine were only a couple hundred though. I always complained about not being able to pay them so they got them from me 20€ per month over a couple of years...

in many places there is an unwritten "rule" that says up to nine youre fine but 10 or more your ass is mine.

My first ticket was for 95 in a 55 (Man I miss that MOnte Carlo!!) --- anywho -- cop was going the OPPOSITE direction --- whipped around (I of course was slowing down at that point) and when he caught me and got out of the car (FUMING) and asked me WHY ARE YOU DOING 95MPH!!! ............. that was EXACTLY the time 3 cars (going under 55) came POKING past us and I pointed and said (honestly) ......... I WAS PASSING THEM ...............(he was not amused)

Small rural farm town --- Grandad new the Judge (didnt learn till the day I was IN COURT) I was only 16 so Mom went with me ...... (I was thinking I was going to the CHAIR!!!)
they called my name ........... then the Judge turned to my Mom and spent 15 minutes discussing old family news -- visiting-- and I was Told sternly NOT TO BE SEEN BACK IN HIS COURT ............ and -- I wasnt ever caught again ;)

What really chaps my ass is stoplight cameras.

The first time I was cuffed was due to me speeding....it was dark and I thought the pair of headlights gaining on me was someone wanting to race...the guy let me get up over 100mph before he flipped on his red and blues....and then when I stopped he drew his weapon and trained it on me, and he pulled me from my car...

He relaxed a bit when I told him that I didn't know he was a cop and figured he wanted to race, so I didn't go to jail (that time) but he did chew my ass and write me a $580 ticket. I was 19. I learned that cops don't want to race.

I have had more tickets than I can even remember. I don't speed anymore or anything but when I was younger I just seemed to think that I had to go fast all the time.

If you ever want to talk to the cops, all you have to do is drive faster than you're supposed to...and I don't want to talk to the cops.

I never had enough motor for anything past mid 180's. It would be nice, though.
I like stuff around 600 hp. Street driving anything 750 hp+ starts to get a little tedious. Zero to 100 happens so fast it isn't even fun. Give me a nice naturally aspirated SBC or BBC with a 4bbl Holley on a Victor Jr. and a lumpy cam and I'm set. Throw in a Muncie 4 speed and a Detroit Locker and you'll never get me out.
