blues Jr issues?

It sort of sounds from the description the the bias was adjusted too cold.
At the factory, they might have had the line voltage wrong when they tested and adjusted it.
That might have been the only thing...
it doesn't seem like a tube problem.

The "jr" amps are made of cheap flimsy parts true.
The Jr. amps are not made for pros and not for road use. They are not made to stand the use.
They are made as a student home practice amp.
But they sound pretty good and this complaint is not typical.

I have played and modded some Blues Jr.s .
I was surprised that they sounded pretty good for such a cheap flimsy amp with plastic shaft pots...
(the pots and other parts are pathetically weak...)

They are cheap indeed, I agree with everything you said, but as a matter of fact they sound good, and many pros use them.
