Gear you've acquired over the years, and is part of the family

Here she is, the only capo I've ever owned.

I got this one shortly after I got the Ovation. So it’s kinda an oldy as well. 1626199175118.jpeg

Oh, boy... The horror! Especially because I know that I would fit together with 67Plexi and Clockworkmike. I'm a collector. But I guess at some point in time we will all have to face it. So even if it's just an exercise, here goes...

Keepers:
-Back in the old country
mid-1970s Ibanez 2014 SG doubleneck, 4 str bass / 6-str guitar
1984 Ibanez DT-155 Explorer, bought it from a friend in 1985. Fully signed by DL back in 1993, when they visited while on their tour. Viv Campbell was still a fresh-faced new recruit...
Peavey Musician 400GH Mk III amp w/ 4x12 Black Widow cab

-Here at home
1988 Washburn Acoustic D-20-S/N Dreadnought (Karen)
1997ish MIK Epiphone LP Custom BB (Liv), PG signed by the guys in Aerosmith.
1996-97 US Fender Telecaster plus V2 black white pearloid PG (Halle)...
2002 MIM Fender Nashville Tele, Fiesta Red with Tortoise PG (Rita)
2003 MIM Fender Splattercaster Olympic White, Aztec Gold and Inca Silver swirls on Black (Gloria). Modded w/ custom pups and hardware
2011 Schecter SLS Blackjack Gates of Hell, Blueburst (Marlene)
Early 1960s Harmony Reverberation Amp. Around 20W. From what I've read it's Harmony's version of the Fender Tweed Deluxe Reverb, I might be wrong.
1990s Marshall Valvestate 20W 1x10 combo

-Fixer-uppers (mostly staying):
1980-81ish MIJ Hondo II "The Paul", Satin Walnut. In the process of rebuilding it with a couple of pups that I bought back in 1982 (i think...), from a friend that played in a local blues-rock band and was upgrading his Gibby LP. Need to confirm that they're actual gibsons, though. Also retrofitting it with a bridge/tailpiece combo very kindly donated by eSGEe.
1980s BC Rich Bich (Lita), nail polish bubblegum pink. This is the one I'm trying to convert from a 24.75 to a 25.5 scale.
1990s Yamaha 112 Powerstrat (HSS) black (Penelope). About to install a 920D fiesta polyphonic-loaded pickguard on it.

Everything else (except most pedals) I'd consider for shedding should circumstances demand it. Phew... I'm getting nightmares tonight!

I've owned a lot of gear over the years and obviously virtually all of it has moved on. I am not sentimental at all and never keep something around just for nostalgic reasons. So really, the only piece of music gear I have that is non-negotiable is my 2016 Les Paul Traditional. It's the best guitar I have ever had and the only one I think I have ever owned that I consider irreplaceable. Everything else is negotiable depending on circumstances.

Well add me to that club, but instead of collector, I prefer the idea that I’m the kid that’s lucky enough to be able to buy the candy store :rolf: .
I’m working with my insurance agent to have a flexible policy where I can call and add a new one at anytime. I’ve acquired 7 since the beginning of the year. I also just took a nice one over to our other place by the lake. Thats my Designated Survivor, should something happen to this place.

That is awesome that your family was very involved in your playing. Even though my grandfather played violin in the Boston Symphony, my parents were very against me playing music. They thought it would just be a fad, and I'd get bored with it. Seeing as I started on violin at age seven, I've been playing some sort of stringed instrument for well over fifty years. Some fad.
Do you have any video of your grandfather playing?

No, I don’t. He died when I was young, maybe ‘68 or so. According to my grandmother, he just gave up playing shortly after having kids. My father was born in ‘37, and his youngest sister around ‘43. So, he must of stopped around 1940. She said “one day he stopped, and never touched it again.” I have a couple of his violins. The only one large enough for me to play needs some serious restorative work. Would still love to eventually get it done.
