Is this a CL scam?

Since I am picking up my Friedman tomorrow or Friday I figured I would swap my Mesa for a Strat or Super Strat with a wiggle bar since my Ibby doesn't have one.
I got this message 1st..

I just want to pick it up. Does it work perfectly? I never check CL mail. my mail address is XXXXXXX

(I deleted e-mail addy as it has his full name in it)

So I message him back and get this reply....

Thank for the response to my husband message regarding your CL item, We are ready to make the purchase, But we won't be able to meet in person with the cash pick due to our work schedule and we are also in the process of moving after our daughter's wedding so we are fully occupied, but everything sounds good with the price & all the conditions posted on the CL, My husband will proceed to overnight a Cashier/Certified Check to you through FedEx and we will arrange for someone to pick up the item from you after the Check fully clear your bank, An additional $50 will be added to the asking price for the reservation so you keep this to us. Kindly Email me the following information needed to overnight out ASAP

Full Name to issue the check to....
Address to overnight the check.....
Final asking price & cell# to contact …..

Acknowledge the receipt of this email with the information needed to issue the payment So you can get it after 24hours.

Yeah seems like a scam. Wanting to get the discussion off CL, fishing for e-mail and physical address and phone no. information.

The message seems very generic as well, nowhere does it mention the actual thing you are selling and you're supposed to calculate the price for them as well

Yeah what I was thinking, no I don't have to calculate anything. They want to set up pick up thru Fed Ex or something. No idea....all I am suppose to do is wait for a check and cash it and let it clear from my understanding.

Don't meet up with this person. It's definitely a scam.
Don't except money orders or checks.
The check looks like it clears, then 2 weeks later it bounces. It's a counterfeit check that looks real.

Yeah I messaged them back I don't take checks and it's a scam..... I told them if they want to deal they have to send Pay-Pal or no deal. Sorry was practicing

And I have met some cool people with this method, some want to meet up at the local GC , most times they always suggest a Starbucks..
Cash rules and it’s never a pile of hundreds, so I feel safe with the transactions..
