So the UPS guy dragged (quite literally) this in today, with the "this side up" arrows conveniently pointing sideways... Everything seems fine though. B-Stock from Thomann, seemed like less of a gamble than a random JCM off Reverb...

Initial impressions are quite positive!

You're going to love it. My DSL's are all I have been playing since I got the 1 and 100 watt heads. My 800 is now my bass amp head, my 900 50 watt high gain is a slave to the DSL100HR and my 50 watt 4 hole non-master volume does get some play as it is so unique for a Marshall.

Agree on that. The new DSLs are amazing for the money. I picked up the little DSL-1C as a "practice" amp, but it sounds so good (after the speaker broke in) that I find myself using it in ways I never imagined. It's even loud enough for a impromptu jam provided no drum kit is involved.

Congrats, put od pedal in front select od2 on ultra gain and unleash your inner demon.

Here's a clean comparison between the DSL40CR and my "H15RT" AC-15 clone head. Everything else stays the same between the recordings (strat, echo, comp, v-type IR by celestion)... The DSL ain't doing too bad for this sort of stuff either.

I had two DSL40C's (one main and one backup) and they never gave me a single problem. They yielded phenomenal clean tones too. I understand the DSL40CR has improved.

I gave away both DSL40C's (one to a student and one to a bandmate) and they are still trouble free. There was nothing wrong with them, I just took the opportunity to do something unexpected for others.

Good choice!!!

Great choice! Robert has a few threads on tube changes that are worth reading. The gain gets a muddy after about 12 o’clock with the stock tube in V1. I switched to a 5751 and have a few others to try yet.
