Not quite a virtuoso-level piece, but GREAT sounding rythm. Loved this vid

this is one of the things that make me love Jimmy. He can make any strumming pattern sound mystical and different.

I've heard him play better. Sorry, but that wasn't up to standard in either the tuning or the playing.

Wrong standard. I am judging as a customer, not a competitor. I cannot sing, but will never buy a Bet Midler album. I cannot build a car, but no Smart Car for me. And I hit pause on that page acoustic video rather quickly.
 
I actually quite like it. But the disclaimer here is that I like it as a huge Page/Zeppelin fan and I listen to it imagining what it would become with 12 overdubs and full instrumentation. A lot of the individual guitar parts that Jimmy has recorded over the years sound like this, but taken in the context of a song they make sonic sense.
 
Thing is, perfection ain't necessarily about perfect playing, gentlemen...

I myself love his style exactly because of its authenticity. He makes "sloppy" playing beautiful.

To my ears and soul, there's nothing wrong in the vid.
 
I like Billy Bragg's playing more than that vid.
FYI, Billy Bragg is a fantastic entertainer (I love him, spend $ on his CDs) but he has a crap voice and playing ability.
Mr JP may be taking lessons from Mr BB. ;)

Interesting, I myself like his more introspective stuff without thinking of it as just a part.

The small imperfections are what makes his playing intensely human, intensely "handmade", like an old tin airplane or wooden toy that belonged to our grandfather. There's poetry to it.


Btw on the other hand, I understand those who don't like him. It's personal, after all. I dislike virtually EVERYTHING David Gilmour played after Earls Court, and it doesn't mean he's bad at all, I just don't like the way he does it now.
