EVH Tribute

I promised update pics so, dammit, here they are!

Couldn't spray last evening due to moist conditions and moderate winds so I will have to wait for the last couple of black coats. I tries to get photos that highlight the distinctive pickup "routes" in the body.

No pics...

The idea is to fill the grain but still have it visible.
There is a lot of debate whether the factory second body Eddie had was grain filled or not. I chose "not" and I am committed now! A couple more coats of black have to go on and then the full size pickguard gets mounted so that the screw holes get opened up. The pickguard also helps to align the tape for the white coats. If you don't get the striping correct for the white coats, you are screwed for the red coats.

It is kind of funny, but in order to make an accurate red, white and black Frankie you first have to make an accurate white and black striped guitar!

Not sure how accurate this guys is, we saw this VH tribute band here at Lake Arrowhead on June 5th. These guys were great and the guitar player had EVH nailed. We saw a Steve Miller TB there last Saturday, and going to see a SRV TB this Sunday. Then another 6 or so more throughout the summer. We can walk to it from our Lakeside place!

Robert might have played there, it’s called the Arrowhead Village.

I've played that stage often.

That group is "Fan Halen" IIRC...

During the white/black era, IIRC, EVH had a non locking tremolo...this would have been about 1978_79.

Yep, Fan Halen. They are touring the country. I’d highly recommend them if you’re a VH fan and they’re playing in your area.

So after the show we were still sitting around BSing with friends and most of the audience had left, the drummer came back on stage for something and decided to throw out some drum sticks. There were maybe 5 or 6 people left near the stage. He throws a few and then throws one our way. I was maybe 10 ft away so I walk a little bit closer and he throws one that bounces on the ground, through a ladies legs, another 10ft and lands about a ft from me. I reach down and pick it up. The lady turns around and says “That’s mine”. I looked at her and said “That’s not how it works” and put it in my back pocket. Souvenir for the fan !
