New Band Day & my Live Rig baBoom set up

Good to hear you found a fun project. I agree about the good drummer. It makes all the difference. This week, we played with our regular drummer for the first time in over a year. Today, he had a knee replacement, so we know we won't play with him again for several months. We have a good second guy in line to just be able to jam and come up with new ideas for now. But can't wait to play with Alex again.

The prime example is my recent adventure with the Peavey delta blues 210. I got that out of the closet with the intention to move it along and wanted to fix up the reverb and make sure everything is kosher beforehand. Needless to say after 2 or 3 days of playing I really don't want to get rid of it. I guess I've just had too many cases of seller's remorse over the past 30 years.

There is a certain guitar currently sitting in limbo at a certain sand farm until I can decide what gear to flip in order to obtain ownership of aforementioned guitar. Guitar life is hard...

It also didn't help my situation that I ended up buying an amp that I honestly thought I wasn't going to like in person, but it was such a good deal I figured I could flip it. Now what do I do?

I understand, as I've mainly bought stuff over the years with a specific sonic purpose in mind. Probably the only exception is SGs, but they are each unique. One, I could easily flog off. But the others would be pretty tough as they are different sonically. They same for amps. I know some folks who will have ten of one particular type of guitar or amp, but I've never really been able to afford to play that game. As a result when I would check something out, it would have to be different and bring something to the table.

Have a lil revelation to share... 2016 was forced into learning guitar cause the guitarist bailed with studio time scheduled. had to play..enjoy it, BUT feel an imense pressure lifted off me to be back home on the bass.

Also learning guitar super taught me how to dial in just right..this past band audition showed how being dialed in & knowing your EQ role is such an important ingredient..the recording also tecahes that. Respect those roles & work together as a team ..those are the bands that sound great at the gigs. if your mixed right before the sound man gets ya..it is so much easier.

Hey right on! If you started on bass that is a good move! So great to get in with a band you relate to amd a kick ass drummer too!!
Awesome news for you!
Thanks Jethro, always dig your band shots over the years. We are blessed with a full sound guy & stage set up for practice with the lights & fog just like a real show. First practice 6 pm. Playing out the 8x10 fridge & SVT CL today .. woo hoo !! Just show up with head & guitar. Manager is there & a few to check it all out it. Consider this my Madison Square Garden concert in NYC. It means that much to be back at it after all this medical & relationship heartache !

That sounds good man, I'm happy for you! Go and dominate the stage and show them how it's done, give them merciless sonic assult!

will anyone be able to film the performance? I'm curious how will the show will go down..
We are in the first official practice. When its official & they put me on the media stuff i will post the band. There will be some good shows. right before the pandemic, they opened for Saliva & Trapt. Now the scene has changed but its a good time cause there is serious scrambling for live entertainment now & they are hiring quick for bands that are ready. Where we live there is a serious heavy scene in revival & its getting away from Djent finally & that opens the door for us old man jams. lol

cool man, I look forward to your media stuff... I hate djent lol I'm old school thrasher through and through, I bleed thrash and old school heavy metal. :bang::jammer:

Weird... While you were posting this I was trying out boost pedals on my new amp again and Down popped into my head. I just started playing Stone the Crow and I don't think I ever learned that one.

Looked it up and apparently they're dropped tuned to C# standard. I never play that low but it does make doing vibrato with power chords a lot easier. Its too much slack for my touch and I tended to over bend everytime.

Then I firgured out CoC's Albatross while I was there in C# town.

BTW I love Klone pedals into the HK clean channel at max vol/gain. The Soul Food was decent, but the Tone Bakery Creme de la Creme is on a whole nother level definition wise.
Yes & Bury Me in Smoke is in B. Stone the Crow is an awesome song !! We are all originals band, this is what i play to for warm up ! Down & COC & Parliament..lol
