Kind of figured they weren't actual gold as they'd be rather expensive - lol - but, gold look'n frets (real gold or not) is still going to look cool on that guitar :)
I didn't realize the frets for made for people sensitive to nickle were a gold color though - never used or seen them for that matter...

Sp8ctre asked if I could darken the body, so I have begun the process. It will never be as dark as the neck because they are simply from different trees, but the body is substantially darker than when it arrived.

Nice work. Does the truss rod persuade the neck to a bit of back-bow when it is fully tightened now?

It does not have any back-bow. I started to hit the side dots as I already took a substantial amount off.

Also, I believe this to be a single action TR. How would I get back-bow with a single action TR? I can always go back at it.
 
A single action TR generates back-bow. That is its job, to counter the forward bow imparted by the strings. It does sound like you have hit some kind of limit on this neck though if you have started hitting side dots. I don't think I've ever encountered one in such a desperate state. I really hope it is still rescuable.

It is straight with the TR fully tightened. So i assume that you are suggesting, with full relief, keep sanding, which will create a scenario where, rather than the FB being flat, we are seeking to have the middle "proud" so that it can subsequently be corrected by the TR, is that right?

Oddly, I am only hitting the last side dot, yet another inconsistency in this neck.

So shall I keep sanding?

Oh, and where can I get a bag of that neck dust? Don't need anything big, just for personal stash. Pm me please.

But you have sanded it straight with the truss rod fully loose. If it is also straight when tight, then the truss rod is doing nothing, and need attention.

No, I did not sand it straight with the TR fully loose. While I did sand with the TR loose at all times, I periodically checked my progress with the TR tightened and stopped at the point I could achieve flatness with the TR fully tightened. When i saw the side dot, I began to get a bit nervous and stopped. I can simply pick up where I left off. Based on your post, I am assuming i should continue my journey downward! Are those your orders, Captain?
 
Hmm. I'm not sure. When you build a guitar, the neck is built dead flat with no truss rod tension, and that is what you should have. But it is starting to look like there will be no neck left by the time you get to that point. You're going to have to judge that.

At least sand to the point where it is flat at half tension.
