Ok so I have a Crate Blue Voodoo cab coming, this is the back plate....

For purposes I will go from left to right, Port 1 - Port 2 - Port 3.
I plan on using this with my Mesa head which has 1 8ohm output & 2 4ohm stereo outputs. The cab comes with 16ohm speakers. So I am replacing them all with 8ohm speakers. So am I correct Port 2 will be 8ohm mono or in stereo port 2 & 3 will be 4ohm stereo? Port 1 is output for another cab @ 2ohm?

Port 1 and 2 are in parallel when running mono. Port 3 is for stereo only. When you plug a cable into the Right channel, it disconnects the Left and Right channels for stereo operation.

If you replace your speakers with 8 ohm speakers, then when wired up the same way as the 16's, you'll get 8 ohms or 2 ohms at Left, or 4 ohms for Left and Right when set to stereo.

If the switch is in the "16 ohm" position and you connect your head to the single cab, you'll have 8 ohm load. If you then connect a cable into Port 1 and run that to another 8 ohm cab, your head will see a 4 ohm load.

*assuming the speakers have been replaced with 8 ohm speakers*

Thanks for the replies, so port 1 is an input also? Or is Port 2 the mono input?

Are the outputs on the Mesa actually stereo? Not just 2 outputs 4 ohm total load? So that's why you are replacing speakers in order to use at 2x 4 ohm loads?

No I am swapping them because the Mesa is either a single 8 ohm or 2 - 4 ohm outputs so the 16 ohm won't work for me or dual 8 ohm I would only be using 1/2 the cab.

In the current configuration the cab would be a single 4ohm if you jumped another cab off of it using the cab out?

Alright then, this is the mildly confusing bit of labeling. The two outputs labeled “4 Ohm” are intended for either one 4 Ohm cab, OR two 8 Ohm cab’s(presenting the amp with a 4 Ohm load).

edit: I really like this one too...

I hope that helps

Thanks for that! I'll be using it in the 8 ohm config with the cab being in the 8 ohm or that was my plan but it's nice to know I can use it with the16 ohm cabs also.

Right so not a stereo output, rather, 2 parallel outs at 8 ohms each for a 4 ohm load, Leave cab as is amd run 16 from the 8 tap or run each of the 2x8 (4 ohm) outs into each jack on cab in "stereo" mode. No need for speaker change unless you want to.

Yeah I already have the speakers, well one set and one set on the way, reason being is I am going to be running the 2 1x12's with the Marshall and that is 1 8ohm or 2 16 ohm so as they sit now they have 8 ohm speakers in it. So those move to the 4x12 with the Jenson's that are on the way.
