I laughed at myself last Saturday.

I keep my hair long but don’t like the ‘pyramid’ shape so whenever it’s getting too long I have it trimmed.

Went to the barber shop and the dude who usually does the job for me had called in sick. All the others were new. The young fellow who was in charge of my chair asked me how I wanted it done. These twenty somethings don’t usually have a clue about how men usually liked their midlong hair in the 70s/early 80s, which is how I like mine.

I showed him a pic of Jerry backstage in ‘74, the famous pic where he’s playing Wolf through a small Fender tweed amp wearing dingo boots and said ‘just make it stay that way’.

I’m probably the only guy in the world that goes to the barber and shows a picture of Jerry Garcia as a hairstyle model!

when I used to cut mine, show her papa Hets pic. She is really good at haircuts if she is bothered. Because she is good she gets really busy and she rushes through and sometimes she doesn't cut it good. There was this other younger kid George he was good too but he left. Now, I'm growing my hair, have not had a cut 1 year now :)

With you there John. Although mine was never that long…… close though. Somewhere around my 30s the top started thinning and the thinner it got, the shorter I cut it. Just looked dumb to have long hair on the sides and none on top. Reminds me of the hippie college professors that are bald on top and have a pony tail.
 
Last hair cut I had in 2019 was December….. I think. Was about to get another one first of 2020 when Illinois shut down all non-essential business. It was May before we started reopening and it was sometime after that I finally got my first of only two in 2020. I was approaching mullet before the first 2020 haircut. I was actually going as long as I could stand it or Mrs. IbLive threatened to leave me if I didn’t get it cut. :pound-hand:

By the time I finally got it cut, it was probably longer than it had been since late 70s very early 80s. It was awesome. She did not share my assessment.

went the opposite direction broke out the Wahl clippers and went back to the buzz cut--- kept it that way for over a decade -- after having long hair all through high school and shortly after ..... then -- kids -- marriage-- job-- scuba diving-- motorcycles--- HEAT---hair was a burden -- so buzzed and its MUCH easier (cheaper) and cooler HELL its falling out now so .......this is transition to the inevitable...........

I got in trouble when I cut it off. My wife likes my long hair. I was using the 1 inch guide on top and 1/2 inch on the sides. I'm getting close to 6 inches on top now. Still using the 1/2 on the sides. Just trying something a little different. Should be able to start tying it back in a couple more months.
