The D'Addario's have a shorter wind section, but they have caused me some intonation anomalies, so I went back to Ernie Ball and the intonation anomaly disappeared.

Your saddles are not slotted much at all!!!!!
I always cut them to give me 1/2 of the string in the groove...
Yeah. I know. Probably should address that, but it hasn’t really been an issue. I don’t attack the guitar like some of you. No monster bends or solo type stuff. As I’ve said. I tend to be more a cowboy chord strummer type. Arpeggios. If I attacked harder I would definitely have to work on the saddle string grooves.

I used to top wrap, thought that it felt better.

Mike Hickey confirms all Joe's guitars have the old ferrules over the ends...
All of Joe's guitars are set to .090" on the low E and .080" on the high e at the 12th fret. This is based on Joe setting them where they feel "right," then a measurement was recorded.

I know Mike. He’s a hot ticket. The next time I go to visit Retro Music, Doogle asked that I call a couple of days in advance. That way he can get Mike, Jeff, himself, and I together for libations after the shop closes for the evening.
Mike was the repair guy at Retro for years, before becoming JB’s tech. Knows his business, and one hell of a nice guy.

I've watched several of his videos on JB setup. Seems very down to earth. Very knowledgeable.
Basically, Chris Callans (from Chris's Guitar Shop in Pomona) has a similar role as traveling stage guitar tech and session player. Back in March, he was tapped by Dwight Yoakam to play guitar on a new project Dwight was recording at East-West in Hollywood.
He has a genuine brick and mortar shop, all cinder block with no windows. Its super secure and you would drive right past it if you didn't know exactly where it was.
I've yet to see anyone (personally) put the level of detail that Chris puts into a guitar. It really is otherworldly.
Because of his heavy road schedule (he was in San Francisco yesterday when we spoke and in Texas the week before that) it takes a while to get into the queue, but the work is absolutely stellar and it's only a half hour from our pad...
