Ya know----- you go out --- you spend a hard earned 45.00 on a 24 year old used marshall Valvestate 20 amp------you bring it home and spend weeks pouring buckets of DEOXIT in the pots to STOP the scratching......you achieve this --- and then months later............the on off switch QUITS WORKING!!!

FUDGE!

BUWAHAHAHHAAAAA.......er well YES......but I dont want to FIRE that BEAST up for short noodles .............................

Uhoh.
That's bad.

I just checked Parts Express, Antique Electronics and Amazon for you.
No luck there. You may have to contact Marshall directly.

OWEGI can confirm I "toyed" with the idea of a toggle switch "REDNECK ENGINEERING" rig......of course I could just DUCT TAPE the switch open.....and plug and un plug the amp to use it-------

BUT cooler heads prevailed lol

Well, at least put an actual 2-way switch on it externally for now so you can use it until your precious stock switch arrives. We would not want the neighbors to get the wrong idea that you are going to keep the place quiet.

Is the switch still locking in and springing out properly?

Looks like it's got 6 pins to solder to the pcb. Maybe... just maybe, one or more of the solder joints has developed a "cold" solder joint. All you would need to do is reflow the joints with fresh solder after you clean up the old stuff. Hopefully accessing the switch at the pcb isn't a PITA. And watch out for excessive amounts of DEOXIT pouring out.

BTW, Poop backwards, is pooP

Sysco the switch is kaput it will not stay in. Amp comes on if you hold the button down but it won't stay so it's mechanical not electrical in nature.
20.00 for a switch dam near increasing the value by 50%!!! Man I am getting into "cap sniffing" territory on this amp.

Ok... thought we could save you $20. If you do go through the effort to replace that switch, check all other components that get a lot of mechanical abuse like the jacks and any other switches. Get your best "eyes" on, wiggle the parts, and focus on the solder joints while looking for hairline cracks.

Use some duct tape or maybe one of those felt pads with the stick on one side to keep the switch pushed in and the amp on. Then, just plug and unplug the power chord. Might keep ya playing to find a switch anyways. The mod squad might not take you in a back alley for a talk either ;)
