Chip Shortage Shuts Off Ford Sales

And just consider that the digital audio products have no spares either.
Ford should have built ignition systems with 741 Op Amps....
Once again, analog triumphs.
One more thing that's gonna force the hand of the powers that be to more-less mandate people go back to work. I understand being off if you're sick, which is expected but the problem here is just lack of workers period. People arent showing up cause you can get paid decently enough to sit at home vs going out. Might not be as much but its enough to consider and a lot have unfortunately done this. Id say very soon you'll see something about this sort of thing, on a table in DC up for review

Personally, I'm holding for a better job and better pay.
There's no reason to be forced into a low wage job,,,unless you let them do it to you.

Agreed. Thats why i hauled ass out of the scumbags i worked 11 years for and went over to the IBEW. Was basically living in working poverty, clearing the same amount of money I would've made on unemployment once you factored in gas mileage ( 150miles per day). Last time anyone will ever pull some poop like that again

I'm going to agree that there was very little wrong with points and condensers....
At least I could loosen the distributor and tweak the timing.
I mean, it worked pretty well just the way it was. Why screw with it?

They are easy to set too. If you don't have feeler gauges, a new book of matches is perfect at .014" thick. Works like a charm.

Worked. Yes. Pretty well. I dunno. My 1977 Chevy 350 with a 185 screaming HP knocks down 12mpg….. and that’s if I keep my foot out of it. Same cubic inch in a 600-700hp Chevy/Dodge/Ford has the capability for mid to upper 20s. That doesn’t happen without electronics.

There's a general shortage of all kinds of semi conductors. Consumer electronics will soon suffer too.
Yep. News was talking about that last night. Semi conductor manufactures expected a huge turn down in demand for the product due to the pandemic world wide. Turn down didn’t happen. In some sectors demand actually increased. Prediction is, it’ll be 2023 before supply gets back to demand. We’re pretty much screwed.

Good thing I already have plenty of those. I haven't bought a new phone in over 2 years, nor a new TV in 7. Every one of my 12 computers are at least 5 years old. My newest car is 2007. Am I missing something here?

Same here. Phone is morebthan 2 years old. The newest car is from 2007, the otjer one from 2002. The TV is only a year old but the one before that was pretty darn old (we still have it).

The computer is 2 years, I don't have 12 of 'em :)
