Are we a success, AMS?
Can I finish buttoning this up and claim it as a victory? May generations ahead sing songs about you?

Is there anything else I should look at before calling it good?
 
Okay, I'm heading in for the night. I'll wait for the green light before I put the chassis back inside the box, etc...but honestly, the bias so far seems stable....nothing is burning up....if AMS gives the OK, we'll call it a victory!

I can't wait to jam on it and see what's up!

What did it sound like?
Did you crank the amp up and play?

Hint:
Did the neighbors pound on the walls?
If the police come to your house, your Marshall is working correctly.

Eviction Notice: if you are being evicted, your Marshall is working "extra good."

2. I didn't hear you playing so:
better crank it up more just to be safe, just to be sure.
Never risk Chug deprivation.

True that the hotter bias sounds better, especially when the power tubes are pushed.
More headroom.
But the tube life is shorter.

True that the amp sounds fizzy-er when the bias is cold, especially when the output tubes are pushed.
Less headroom.
But the tube life is longer.

And so, it is a compromise just like all engineering is compromised.
Better sound = shorter hotter -(90) tube life.

To compromise, the output tubes are not pushed.
The amp is played at low loudness mostly.
Then the bias "can" be cold - (78) - without a big loss of sound quality.
It's a compromise that saves the tubes.

The tubes do sound way way better when they are screaming for holy mercy slightly red plating (105) very hot.
But they only last about 40 hours.
And there are players who deliberately do this.

Theres a Greenlee meter in tool box in shop that i believe has all the functions of my fluke. Im not a big fan of any meters other than fluke but it should work fine
I think i would monitor it if it was me

I might grab that if/when I go back in there. I played on it for maybe 20 minutes or so, cranked it up, went through all the channels and everything.
Something about playing guitar in the morning alone and sober doesn't feel quite right lol

Do you like mullard's power tubes on It? Adjust it at 90mv with Svetlana power tubes it's an awesome amp. Using other tubes it's to much hot bias IMHO.
