You can solder the wires to the resistor leads if you want to.
But yes those 2 wires need to move.

It must be a mistake in the Dr. tube instructions.

Wait wait.
Solder a jumper across the 2X 220K resistors.
Just short the resistor out with a wire across it.

You can solder the wires to the resistor leads if you want to.
But yes those 2 wires need to move.
