In 1983 Mom took me to Brian Guitars to get a Stratocaster, and I still have it!!!

So, what's your Old Axe, your Relic, your Life long instrument of fond Memories? It doesn't have to be Musical, if its brought you a lifetime of memories, post it up!!

I must have had Dave Murry on the brain when I pick out this Black Strat!

38 Years later, and i still have the Strat. Father time has been kinder to the Guitar then to the player. That's ok....I've earned those miles. Damn, what a ride!! :D

30 years a strat.JPG

It is known as the "2 knob Strat with the weird jack" aka the "Dan Smith" Strat. I always new something was different, but i wasn't quite sure.:unsure:How did i know any better...i was 13. Here is the tale of the Dan Smith strat ----> Stratocaster Standard: Smith Strat and 2 Knobs

At one point I purchased a second one from a friend. It had the regular trem and had a rosewood fretboard. It was yellow like Yngwie, and the SN was only a couple hundred off from this one. Wish i kept it, but I sold it for $350 so i could.....Party!! :beers: Kids!
I still have the trem bar from it for some reason, and i see them listed for good cash on eBay. hummmm

1983 HEADSTOCK.jpg

At some point I shattered my pinky racing motocross...so, I put down the guitar and kept riding for like 20 years. One day I picked up my Strat and I realized I Could still play....then I did the most logical thing....I purchased an SG, a Les Paul and a half dozen Ibanez guitars, and a Marshall Stack. Then I started rocking out!!

Wish I never stopped. But that's ok, cause I'm Back. Rock on Folks!!!! :dood::dood::dood::dood::dood:

So, what does a 13 year old kid want for Christmas when he has a new Strat. An Amp!! And
Dec 25 brings e Peavy Studio Pro 40. I think my parents regretted that decision rite away!!

PEAVY STUDIO.jpg

Of course, for a kid there is no such thing as enough distortion. Well, good thing I had a Birthday coming up. More distortion please!!
My first Pedal. BOSS Heavy Metal ....Another regretful decision by mom I'm sure.

HEAVY METAL.jpg

I loved that pedal and i still use it once in a while. How did I know, that very pedal would push me and make me strive for the ultimate prize. Ambassador of Metal Health. For that, I thank you all. :dood: :dood: :dood:

It's funny to see the changes in everything now. I would never put stickers on my case these days. But, that's what kids do. Stupid things.
I finally took the stickers off my Peavy amp. I mean, who wants a "Tight as a Nun" sticker on their amp anyway? Fer Real!!

The only guitar I have that goes back that far is my first guitar. the one I learned to play on. A Yamaha SBG 200. Like this one (not my picture).

However, mine is totally trashed, and sitting in the closet not in playable condition right now.

Other than that, I've had "The Guitar With No Name" for 6 years, and It's become my go to guitar.

Sadly I no longer have it but in 1977 I got a new '77 Les Paul Custom that I did own for 22 years before selling. It was the guitar I learned to play on, the guitar I gigged with throughout the '80s and '90s and the guitar that set the mold for my taste in guitars to this day. Although I no longer have it I do have something from the era that has filled that void and scratched that itch...

So, I guess you could say: 44 Years a Les Paul guy

I have some of the hand tools I have had since I was like 13.
One is a really old small ball peen hammer I found in the mud somewhere.

I started playing 7 years ago too.
My first elec was a used Ibanez s470, 1996 made in Korea.
Really nice now that I think back about the overall build quality.
but I didn't bond with the licensed floyd, which didnt stay in tune well either.
Wish I still had it now.

This is the elec I mostly learned on, almost all unplugged the first couple of years.
Rondo SX Furrian tele, $89, then a lot of budget but better upgrades.
Learned to work on guitars mainly on this one.

Didnt get much play after I got some others - mainly because of neck dive.
Sold off recently to help fund my first Gibson.

Got a Goya GS40 L6-S copy for Christmas in 1978. Still a favorite. Fast, slim neck, 24 fret, versatile, quality instrument. So he was 42 in Dec.
Last used it live, well, can't play out yet here but used it for a "live" at jam space video of our last single.
