Non-Reverse Thunderbird Bass build

Pickguard arrived yesterday. As luck would have it, the modern ceramic T-Bird pickups are too big for the opening. Waiting to hear from Roger on what his vintage spec pickups measure. This project has been a pain in the butt since day one.

Roger Daguet sent me some pdf files with original sixties Thunderbird dimensions. They were actually quite nice, and much more than I asked him to help me with.

As a result, all’s well with the pickguard. I’ll be trying to get some templates made this week.

Also need to get more stuff done on the Korina builds. Too much stuff going on in my life, but still hoping to make some progress.

Needed a break from work tonight, and enjoyed playing my Martin instead.

My build definitely detracted from my playing. Luckily, I love both activities

I think I have come to the conclusion that it would be cheaper to pay @SG John to build me a custom V than to buy the tools I would need to do it myself. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Considering that I actually started this bass build ten years ago, do you have the time to wait for me to actually finish stuff? Granted, I do no longer get on an airplane every Monday morning for work anymore, so I am actually starting to try to finish stuff now.

I'm waiting 3-4 months for a Gibson, so I really don't see a problem for an actual one off.

Hot damn, how have I not seen this thread before this. Your woodworking/guitar building skills truly amaze me, SG John. Looking forward to seeing more of this build progress.
Pity you don't have the time to do builds for others, I'd most definitely be on your waiting list. Something like a Gibson type V, maybe neck through construction, ebony 'board, rear mounted controls (no pickguard), TOM & stopbar,, yes, that would do nicely. Cheers
