The Boyzz Mk III Debut Performance.

Thats really cool!
I first saw these guys when I was 16, way back when.

They were always opening for a big name, or doing their own thing at a club/ bar. Had the album "Too Wild to Tame"
Most definitely played a big role in my musical journey.

They were a big thing back in the Chicago area, late 70's

Thats awesome man. So Guitarweasel was a member then?

Once upon a time John, you had a website. You had just about your entire catalog posted there. Somewhere I have a bunch of those tunes.... maybe on a CD. Going to have to look and check. The Boyzz played some good stuff.

No this was a long time prior to that.
As he stated they are on their third incarnation.

I remember one October long ago they were playing at the Riviera theater, for a can jam. Bring a can of food, get in reduced, or free?
The singer, Dirty Dan Buck led a chant of "whata ya say? Fu#@&8g A". To be repeated as my friend and I walked home afterwards. At the top of our lungs, at 1:00 AM in a not so great part of Chicago. Not something I recommend 15 year old people do!

They have/ had such a fun- high energy show, in a way you could say they were one of the things that got me playing guitar. I started at age 15.
I have seen the "original" band dozens of times at least. Used to see them around Carbondale Il. as well, when I was in Uni.

Great- great live band! Props to @guitarweasel

A little back story, I go back along way with Dan, I met him when I was 16, he was 20. We started a band, but he got drafted, did 2 & 1/2 years in Germany, even made Sargent. When he got back we started a band again which fizzled out pretty quick *it was actually called "Just Me And The Boys"* He went on to start what would become The Boyzz, the band originally had eight members, four of the founding members and four that soon departed, they were strictly a copy band *I went on to start a band called "Arson".

The 70's were a hotbed for bands getting signed in Chicago (The Boyzz and Arson were now doing original material.) We all had a united front in the club circuit, Cheap Trick, The Hounds, Trillion, Tantrum and others all played the circuit, we all knew and hung out together and one by one we were getting signed. The Boyzz with Epic, Arson with Scotti Brothers (Scotti Brothers went under right after we recorded our debut album.) The Boyzz were a "live" band, freekin insane with their live shows, but IMO never got that energy on vinyl, they did a second album "Midwest Kids" that never got released. Dan and I formed "The Sinners", did some demo tapes and shopped it around, but to no avail, it was the Disco era and nobody want the down and dirty, biker band sound. Dan did a Boyzz reunion with the two guitarists, but that soon failed, he also had Dirt's Raiders, but once again the labels weren't signing. That's when "The Boyzz Mk III" happened, the band was Dan, myself and at various times some of the original members, that didn't work out as planned so we regrouped with fresh talent.

It was decided that we were not going for a contract this time, but instead, did the college and festival circuit, again, we opened for everybody!!! It was much more lucrative and most of all.....fun!!!!! That ran from 1998 to 2006. On July 4th 2006 we opened for ZZ Top at an outdoor festival.....It was extremely hot that day, the stage was facing into the sun, there was no ventilation on the stage and I was dealing with my diabetes, unfortunately, the diabetes and the heat got the better of me and during the fourth song, I went down.....hard. I was out cold and they had to stop our show. This caused ZZ Top and Steppenwolf's management to threaten the promoters to get proper ventilation on stage, or they wouldn't go on. They did and the show continued. As foe me, I was done, had enough, I spent two days in the hospital recovering from that incident.

We still played off and on, but they were smaller club gigs.....And.........then, in 2011 I moved to Alabama (Don't ask, lol!) Now I'm back in Illinois, enjoying my retirement and still playing once in awhile. OK, The End. Oh, and I'm here too at TTR.

Thank you so much for filling me in.

Some of the best times of my youth had your music as the backing track.

I remember all of those band names, many nights at the Thirsty Wale, Night Gallery, Brat Stop circuit of bars. Not to mention International Amphitheater, Riviera, Uptown Theater, Alpine Valley etc...

Saw Cheap Trick in Waukegan at the roller rink Lol.

Glad to hear you're doing better, and nice to hear about your retirement. I'm headed there within the next six weeks+/-
Don't want to keep being a fanboi, just really stoked to hear from you. Thanks for the tunes bro, I didn't waste them ;)

Just found this, our 1998 debut performance with Kansas at the Hemmens Auditorium. 15K sold out show. We were sooo freekin loud!

The original "Boyzz" Too Wild To Tame live at the Agora Ballroom. Shorty after this I replaced the guy with poodle hair playing *MY* Explorer that I still own. The bassist and drummer found Jesus and quit playing, Anatole the keyboard player passed away a few years ago. Same :poo:, different decade.
