For me it is venue and gig dependent, has to be. If I want to haul a 4x12 into every venue then there are a couple I would never play at all cause there is no room.
Also, depending where show is amd how much I have to haul, I may not get a large cab into my SUV.

Usually I take a combo. Some places 2x12. Some the 6101, sometimes with the matching 1x12 in a mjni stack. If it is a mini head, I uwually take one or 2 1x12s so they can be angled. Virtually everywhere mics tye amps.
If I have room for a full sized head, usually it is the 2x12. Sounds great, angles and again, i can haul it upstairs and into my vehicle. I have become aware that if you want go play out around here, take waht is appropriate and don't be pig headed.
I also like to rotate amps when playing out.

2 - 1x12s angled in L shaped small pub.

Our annual big show under circus tent I rotate. Jubilee combo in this case. Have run the half stack too.
