Frustrated and done

Why is it that every piece of hardware I've purchased new, doesn't do what it's supposed to do and causes me nothing but headaches?
Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 - bleed through into the headphone and monitor outputs
Captor 16 - Massive feedback and whistling. Still not fixed.

I thought I had the Captor figured out, but running an amp over volume 3 creates a world of feedback and whistling. According to Two Notes, it's not a problem since I'm running quote: "too much gain and too much volume." Really!?!? I have my gain on 2 and volume at 5 and it's still unusable. FU dude.

Now I find that my Scarlett interface bleeds the input channels into the headphone and monitor outputs. Making that unusable.

I'm so frustrated I'm thinking of ditching all the F'N gear and just calling it quits.

Dude!!!!

This is a known problem with some of the 18i8's. I found several posts where the people contacted Focusrite and got it replaced.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the support. I took a few days off and played some violent video games to unload. I'm stressed about my health which doesn't help matters either.

I located the problem with the Focusrite. I have unbalanced 1/4" adapters for channels 5/6 that I run my iPhone into so I can play along with my music. When I unplugged those, the bleed went away. Focusrite support has been non-existent. I tried their FB page as well and got a few replies from users but nobody with knowledge about the issue.

The Captor is something I just have to deal with. I have to run my amps at lower volumes when I want to push the gain. They are not old school Marshalls or the like so running lower volumes is fine. I'm just very frustrated with today's technology companies who put out products that are just "good enough." My job is dealing with technology every day and I run into problems constantly with products that don't work consistently.

For now, I'm glad I don't have my youthful over-reactions that would have burned my crap to the ground.

Microphonic feedback (whistling) is due to a hot frequency which is resonant.
The loudness can only be raised to a certain point which is limited by resonant frequencies.
And it can be notched out with a proper EQ.
Using a 1/3 octave EQ or a parametric EQ, the feedback offending frequencies can be eliminated.

But also by using a proper EQ to notch feedback, the remaining frequencies are left "as is."
