Jensen speakers? Or possibly others...

For anyone else's thoughts. Here is the back with the back panel on/off

Thank you, I hadn't seen those. You can clearly see where it's tight between the magnet and the chassis. The clearance now is about 10mm (0.39"). If I find a speaker with a smaller diameter magnet I have about an inch of clearence between the speaker and the tubes.

It'll be mostly rock/blues stuff. The amp really shines when played clean and I can just barely make it break up using a strat.

Yeah, the Neo's seem to be the shallowest. I think I looked at the P12N and concluded it was too deep. Otjerwise I'd be interested.

Hard to tell how much time is on the gold... The Sub Zero amp was used though and is a few years old so it should be broken in.

The Gold is in what used to be a Fender Ramparte amp. It suffered from really bad tube rattle though and nothing I did seemed to fix it. The cabinet looks really cool so I removed the amp and use it as a cab now.
I'm still waiting to see the amp you're building.

Or wasn't I supposed to mention that any more? :P

While I can't speak about the neo, I have had a few of the Italian C12N 's. It has been a while but I wasn't fond of them. I prefer a bit more of a Brit speaker than a Murican voicing, but that's just me. I also found the Jensen to sound better at lower volume than at " gig" levels, again just me.
In open back amps I have a couple C-rex speakers and a Celestion V Type that I really like, but there are many good speakers out there.
Good luck.
I based my like for the Jensen on this video, the Creamback is a somewhat known reference.

They are only about 1/4 inch different, you don't have that?

Yeah, I have approximately 0.40" clearance but I'd like to keep some distance.

I definitely preferred the Jenson in that video. The Celestion sounds flabby with proper guitar playing... ;)

My thoughts exactly. Jensen describe it as having a loose bottom, tight mid and bright top. The describe the Neo as having a tight bottom and mellow to, which sounds more like what I want. The problem is that I can't fin a single clip of the Neo together with something I can relate to.

Yeah, if you're going to A-B speakers on YouTube guys, at least find somebody who can play a guitar...
