Contrary to popular internet myths...

Cant really argue any of these points: so ill give examples to each one as to why i agree lol

-I like a fat neck actually but i prefer a 60s profile more often than not. I am a rare bird in that i have no issues or complaints with either. But i can see where a fatter neck can be less comfortable to someone who enjoys the slimmer profile

- The Music Man EVH/ Peavey Wolfgang and current EVH branded models are all basswood and are spectacular guitars. I prefer mahogany but id gladly own a basswood, no issues.

-There are tons of :poo: tube amps that I wouldnt waste much time on at all. Im a Marshall guy thru and thru but their MA100H is an example of just an unfortunate amp. If anyone has one and likes it, as well as being able to get a good sound? God bless ya!

-one of the best SS amps ever made is the venerable Roland JC-120, renowned for its crystal cleans and being a great pedal platform. Going back to Marshall, the LEAD Mosfet series is a prime example of SS done well in higher gain.

- 70s model Fenders and Gibsons at many times, are great examples of not so great vintage guitars. But that's not to say that entire decade sucked, because they are many great models out of there of each, but it was a bad time for lax production as well, so hit and miss.

- As far as Imports? I think ESP and Ibanez single handedly helped change perspectives on import guitars to the masses. Theres other great smaller import companies out there but those two in particular brought respect to the market, especially with the music scene of the mid 90s to today. In fact, many are being better made than a lot of domestics, sadly enough
Can't add a thing to this.

If it wasn't for the internet, I would have had no idea that these Norlin era Gibsons are pieces of junk. Could have fooled me.

Wrongly maligned era. Many of the Norlin guitars are in fact, outstanding. The grief i think comes from the radical attempts at new designs like the dreaded Corvus, which is hard to defend on any day. But then again, look at the poop Gibson built in recent years like the Firebird X and its worse.

Some observations that I have made. The following is JMHO/YMMV.

Big fat necks are not the most comfortable

Some really great guitars are made from basswood

Not all tube amps are magical

Not all solid state amps suck

Not all vintage guitars are magical

Not all import guitars suck

I knew all this before the internet was available...
