There's absolutely no cause for concern with a properly designed and built PCB. They really are preferable when done right.
Is there something about this amp that leads you to believe there is a long-term reliability problem? Marshalls tend to be pretty robust.
A cool little trick I use with mine is using the gain for volume and the master for distortion.Having JUST JOINED (barley 24 hours ago) the ranks of the ORIGIN crowd (score a SWEET like Origin 20h) Im still learning the lovely tones and nuances of this creature........
Im NOT going to put mine through the Riggers that @Robert Herndon would -- so Im going to let Bobby go down the rabbit hole.....and I will learn from his experience
Have I mentioned DAMN I LOVE THIS AMP --- it has such lovely vintage Marshall yumminess (Ive not even TRIED a distortion pedal through it yet) ....I "have" metal/chug amps -- Im really grooving on the vintage 70's AM Radio tones Im getting from her at present ......wow
Ba**s out. Lol
Probably because it's built with pcb's...I've had the same itch to convert my DSL100H to PTP. I've had it 10 years with nary a problem. Something has prevented me. Probably my guardian angel.![]()

Ok I'll bite... Have you looked inside? Photos of the whole chassis please...Amp Gurus,
I have a really nice (brand new) Marshall Origin 50 Head. It works great, but I have thought about the vulnerability of the PCB.
What would be required to convert it to PTP Turret Board, maintain the FX loop feature and add a digital reverb???
Appreciated...

Of course the PtoP amp is much better.Just my ignorance of the PCB. I have serviced PTP's and it bugs me that I really can't service the PCB if it goes out on me...
This looks pretty good. It's amazing how much efficiency and good tones comes out of these designs. I see a buttload of relays and IC's that would seriously challenge a turret board design to fit within that chassis's framework. Here are some pics I found. I've never taken mine apart.
