good budget Telecaster style guitar?

WOW, Chris, I think I got mine around 2010-2012. Mine was $279 and the Thinlines and the Classic Vibe Custom Sunburst 60's ones were $299 at the time. It was to be my first Tele. I had narrowed it down to the one I got, the 60's, or a sweet Am Std natural ASH one my mom and pop shop had for $699 back then. Now it looks like the Cvibes are $429-$479+ WOW

The high end Squiers are definitely great guitars. In fact, it's crazy how good they are for what they cost.

I had a CV '50s Strat that was amazing. My Vintage Modified Tele Custom is right up there in quality, sound, and playability with any other Tele I have ever played. For real.

And used ones are dirt cheap.

I had a Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar and was surprised how good it was - and a lot cheaper than the Classic Vibes (I think, could be wrong, that many of the guitars in the expanded Classic Vibe range are more or less the Vintage Modified guitars). They are cheaper than the CVs, only a bit more than the basic Squiers and quite a step up. You might find some NOS or some second hand stuff.

Either one of these or a CV for US$300-give-or-take (s/h), if you could find one, would be a really nice guitar at the money. Or, a second hand Mexican if you can find one at the right price (although the prices seen waaaaaay too high for these on reverb, ebay, etc).

And it's getting very hard to find budget used stuff.......
My local guitar centers used gear wall......normally fool......now...............

HOWEVER -- one can still score good deals.................USA made 90's era PEavey Strat (PRedator) -- I would put this against any USA or MIM made Fender. ..........
249.00 -------- TWO HUNDRED and 49.00
thats only 49.00 MORE than a new Fender USA Molded CASE costs ......(no guitar)

ANd Im sorry ya'll can argue till the cows come home and @Ramos goats catch demon Hell fire on their tails

BUt this

is not ---- in any way 1250.00 WORSE than an USA made Fender Strat (starting at 1500.00 new) ...........its just not ....

To those who have or had any of the Squier Teles - how well balanced are they?
like I said, the Tele I am selling only because of very bad neck dive.

Lots of good advice here; I'm looking to stay under $300, used is always my 1st choice.

The CV Tele was my first choice as well, but yeah, the prices have really gone up the last few years.
Dont see many used at reasonable used prices. I think the CV were around $379 around 2017?

I am familiar with parts / pickups from GFS, and have almost bought a guitar from them several times.
Mostly I heard of quite a bit of QC variation.
The XV-820 are $200, there is a sunburst I could live with (prefer the plain jane butterscotch blonde or antique white) for $170.
Alder body, dont know about balance / neck dive there either.

Not buying right now, since I just got the LP studio, but I would like to keep a tele in my arsenal.

Grump, when I got my CV Tele, I also bought 2 Vintage Mod Basses, a P and Jazz 77. Both were under $300 out the door. The CV's were the same price as the VM's too at the time. 2010-2012 ish.

XV solid body or Squire CV will not neck dive ....my esquire is CHUNKY -- that "ass" will hjold it down -- Hell its heavier than my Gibson Les Paul SPecial ....by like A LOT!

the CV is a 9lb hammer for sure

Mine is perfectly balanced.

Prices on everything have SHOT UP recently I've noticed...

Trump trade war with China. The only thing to not get hit with new higher tariffs was the textile industry because it would affect both his and his daughter's clothing lines, and bottom line (not being political, just pointing out the obvious). Even though Epiphone (Gibson) got hit with huge tariffs, they were happy that their competitors also got hit. Kept the prices at an even playing field. Even though they aren't employing Americans, the profits go to Nashville.
