Hej!

On occassion I find stuff that I can turn around for a profit, sometimes it's just dumb luck that I find something before everyone else and sometimes I've bought stuff that I repaired and flipped for a profit. The was a Peavey Valveking with a busted recerb tank that I bought for $70, fixed for $0 and flipped for $150.

Now I have the opportunity of getting a Vox AC30 CC2 for $200. It blows fuses. I'm thinking that if I'm lucky it's either a power tube or a rectifier tube. Those should be in the $500-$700 range if fully functional, right?

Blowing fuse can just be a power tube, the amp tends to eat output tubes.
It has some pretty bad filament hum...
but those things can be corrected.
Of course it's not really an AC 30 but a quasi-vox like imitation.

The Vox AC30CC ( Communist China ) The EL84's go toast then it gets ugly. If it was a made in England I would go for it.
I have inspected a few Vox AC30CC blowing fuse issue when given a estimate for repairs they run like hell.

ive had a cc2x since 2010, and it has been a really good amp.
there is a design flaw with the standby switch though.
i learned a long time ago not to use it....if you do, it will eat rectifier tubes and start blowing fuses.
since i quit using the standby, it has performed flawlessly.
i dont care where its made....it sounds great and is built like a tank.

The dude sold it to someone else. Not that I really needed it :D

probably a good thing. i mean if it was a tube issue then you could have made a nice little bit flipping it.....the lowest ive seen the cc2 with the wharfdales go for is 5 or 600 bucks. i just wonder if he knew there was something really wrong with it to sell it for such a low price.
It wouldn't necessarily have worried me much, unless a circuit board was burnt or something. A blown transformer would have been kinda bad too...

The build quality of the current Vox amps spooks me. I really wanted to get an AC-10 but after I saw what it looks like on the inside decided against it. Just doesn't seem built to last, even considering the relatively low price-point.
