Is there any turret terminal that has threaded base instead of riveted / pressed installation?
Like, you can take it off the board un-screw it and move it...
or replace it when it gets abused or damaged?

I wanna use that type board with pre drilled holes, and be able to tweak the positions around experimentally.
It's that the riveted turrets are too permanent for this experiment.

What kind do you guys use? I know most of you must rivet the turrets.
Is there any type particular turret that makes this easier or more fun?
 
Hmmmm... I think I saw those a few years ago... I remember they sold boards and you could by the tirrets separately. The dealer was in the UK but I can't remember the name. Let me have a look...
 
I want to take that next step and make my own boards and set the turrets, or eyelets.
The screw in type sounds great but costlier.

Seriously, I dont have that, but if I did I would use it as an excuse to MF a lot of folks.
 
That's pretty much what I was hoping for. (amp maker)
But think about the possibility of drilling the inside -- to make the wall thinner and to make the hole go all the way through to the bottom of the thread.

Because the thicker the material is, the more soldering heat will be required to make solder flow.
Therefore a thinner wall is desirable...to make soldering faster and lower power.

But how far can you take this, without distorting the board material from solder heat or from tightening the nut?

Also a ho, because might want to insert wires or jumpers through bottom of the post in addition to the top.

And then, a smaller nut and washer that dissipates less heat from the soldering, to further speed up the solder flow.

Tube Depot has the turrets that are slotted at the top (bifurcated), and I sort of like the extra top slot.

But they don't give any dimensional drawings or specifications.

A lot of times there are sample requests, and many times free....
manufactures are usually anxious to help people find parts.
The Tube Depot turrets are 39 cents.
I don't have a clue what the extra machining will add up to.

Here are top and bottom shots with them in a 2203 board from Valvestorm. It was the early board with the crappy turrets, so I knocked them out and replaced them with the gold screw on turrets.
 
Wow man. It's like Horton Here's a Hoo. Drop some acid and think about that for awhile.
