Edelbrock

Edelbrock used to cast our Big Mouth tuned port intake manifolds. We sold a couple hundred a year back in the 90's and dwindled to maybe 100 by 2005. They were pretty reluctant to cast them by that time. The pandemic was certainly the nail in the coffin, but the automotive industry has improved factory performance so much over the last 25 years that it is killing off all of the performance companies. Once the C5 came out it was nearly impossible to improve on the factory LS1 intake manifold. If we cut off the snout and epoxied on a larger one for a bigger throttle body we could get 3-4 hp. Not really worth it. I had the shop weld up a sheet metal aluminum intake with a large plenum and very short runners and it was a wash. Not to mention the better insulating properties of the plastic intake.

There are not going out of business, just moving to Mississippi. This state is one of the worst for operating a business (high taxes and regulations). Many firms are leaving. Heck, we don’t even have reliable power anymore. :run:

Hopefully @Don O is right with them just relocating. Id hate to see them fold entirely. Edlebrock is synonymous with kick ass after market upgrading in old hot rods and muscle cars, specifically their intakes which in my opinion, were absolutely badass. I had a 600 4barrel carb of theirs as well and it was a workhorse, full of power.

Too bad for the 270 Employees out of work though.. More hard working taxpayers out of a job.
