P-90 guitars

That sounds really cool. Both the progression, and the guitar sound.

I guess you're liking the new Maybach so far?
Thanks! Yes, I like it a lot! It had a pretty beefy neck, not at all the slim taper that can feel flimsy. It's somewhere between slimbtaper and late 50's baseball bat. The pickup is warmer than any other bridge pickup I've ever played but still with bite. I can also clean it up not only using the volume knob but also the tone knob, I haven't experienced that before. I suspect it's the electronics rather than the pickup though. It's one hell of a guitar.

That is 50's style wiring. I love it. The tone knob is much more interactive with the volume, You will find that if you roll off the volume a bit you will lose less high end than modern wiring, and then roll off the tone knob and there will be a sweet spot where all of the high end sparkle comes back.

I like the P90 sound, even the hum. It teaches one to use a volume control.
Seem to always have one around.
Trouble is, they never came with enough pickups, so I rolled a few of my own.

Sadly, these have both moved on...

This one's still here, even though I corrupted it with a middle pickup, I soon came to my senses & changed it back.
Pickguards can hide a lot.

And then there this... Winner of many ugly guitar contests.

Hard to believe, but this P.O.S. has been with me over 40 years, had several different pickups & tuning machines, literally had the frets played off it.
They were worn & leveled so many times it was a perfect test mule for my first complete refret about 20 years ago.
It's now a beloved family pet

Acoustic P90 is awesome!

I miss Gibson's blowout deals at the end of the year when new models come out!

Yes, I very much agree.

I recorded this tonight.

Fine work, Sir.

Well, there’s

Bloody show off!
(I'll take the first one, please.)

Featuring a Bare Knuckle Stockholm P-90 soapbar, 15.9KΩ

Only a raving woofter and Dave Doom could pull this off (so to speak...)! It is a great looking SG.

Show off!

(&, how many guitars do you actually need???)

I have but one P90 guitar (with the 6 month old Seymour Duncan Antiquities still waiting in the drawer to be put in.):
