Ok i finally got to sit and play with this thing further, figured out how to save (i was on the right track, in fact it did save, i just had to go back in and name it. Score 1 for me, 0 for manual) So yesterday i had just enough time before work to grab two instrument cables. so the main foundation is the Joyo zombie 2 hooked up to a 2x12 cabniet with VHT chromebacks i bought from Adrian YEARS ago. Through the front im playing my richie faulkner guitar with EMG 57-66 tuned to drop D, that then goes through beringer noise reducer pedal then through the ibanez tube screamer mini which then goes through the amp. Through the amp's effect loop thats where i put the Zoom G3n Effects Processor, through that im running a noise gate, followed by reverb (just wanted a touch, not a lot) and then used the 8 band eq on the setting. i had to crank up the volume but thats fine, this is for recording, not live play.

Yep, I can hear that tubescreamer doing what it does in this video vs your others. Sounds good, I always enjoyed my zombie though I only plug into it once in a while.

An aside note, I brought my zombie to a jam session one night, and while it's good and loud, it wasn't quite enough to compete with the other instruments in the room, specifically, the drum set. Other instruments you can always say "turn that intercourse thing down, bro!!", but with a drum set, that only works a little bit lol

I've also slaved it to my 100w DSL, that's always interesting too lol

Thanks guys. my only concern is that there may be too much low end...maybe. So my friend with the production company loved the last song i made and we talked things over and we are wanting to basically make it a trilogy. thing is, he's insistant that we mic up on the guitars. thus this rig...on top of that i have a feeling that my REALLY old line 6 guitar port is on its last legs and when that goes...so will the amp sims ive been using as thats only compatible with the port. it served me well but i have to quickly set up and prepare for its ultimate demise.

My issue is im really not used to micing up listening over and over to what i got so far, alone im liking the tone but for recording it may have too much bottom end as i love quad tracking. It may not be that big of a deal, this processor does have an 8 band EQ that i am using, and going back in and altering the settings on that is pretty easy, then i left room for a compressor to add to that chain in the processor, then theres always the tone knob on the amp itself, its sitting at the 1 o' clock position at the moment so i got room there....and then theres mic placement and then ALL of this is dependent on the natural acoustics of the room. i may not have to do anything OR i may have to sit and play with it for a few hours.

so I'm going to try and make it a two day event, first day is really getting there, setting up and playing around with settings to make sure everything is to my liking. If time permits after all of that then i'll start recording. if not then i still have that whole of a second day to knuckle down. luckily i had thought ahead and made the song relatively simple, biggest challenge would be just reteaching myself how i played the keyboard parts and those are pretty simple too.

Yea that tubescreamer makes a world of difference! really glad i went and bought it.

Yea, thats the drawback of these little micro amps...not enough umph to play in a live setting, maybe if you micd it through the PA system, on the flip side i think for a practice amp...theres a lot that goes into fine tuning it to really get the most out of it...I really think it's role is best suited for recording on a bit of a budget. and thats solely my intent on this, the biggest thing id have to transport and carry is my cab, everything else can go in a cardboard box and brought up in one trip, easy! if i add my wah really theres 5 pedals and the 3 cable type setup works really well on this amp!

Honestly though, if i was going to play live...id use my 100 watt marshall head that my demon lunchbox is sitting on right now. :)

Ok now testing the 7 string the only thing different is i left the noise reducer on the front end off. no active pickups to make the amp squeal like a stuck pig.

Honestly...with the pickups being really mid heavy...i think the settings are about perfect for this rig. Tell me what you guys think.

As a side note, im playing along to the demo i created for my friend and i to work on...the whole reason i started working on this rig and set up in the first place.

Great job Matt love the huge wall of tone you are getting, excellent score on the recording amp !!
Cheers
Mitch

Thanks!! I’m honestly really happy with it. Definitely has that Mesa “nasally” tone to it which I kinda like. Sitting next to that 2x12 I can definitely feel the percussiveness of the low end which, sitting in the same room, both guitars felt massive. But keyword is “felt” I didn’t know how it translated over through to anyone else and yea.. recording by phone is not the best way to get an opinion.

I think the 7 string is sitting in that sweet spot of sounding massive but I don’t think it would sound muddy when quad tracking. The Richie Faulkner V... it may take a bit of tweaking, don’t know but primary concern was the 7 string.

Really for the trilogy of songs we are planning, going to use my Jackson Dinky which has more high end than my 7 string, the Schecter 7 string, then the last one would be that white Jackson 7 string....whenever that gets here and that one I’m real interested in seeing how that goes, it being loaded with Seymour Duncan black out active pickups which are just meaner than EMG’s but I’ve only ever played with those pickups on a 6 string. 7 string is going to be a whole other animal.
