Anyone familiar with TC Electronic's Mimiq Doubler?

I dont mess around too much chasing pedals, although I do have a couple. But i saw this thing in a video last night and it really got my interest. It replicates a doubled, tripled or even quadrupled guitar sound like you were multi-tracking on a recording. At first i thought it was just a fancy chorus but its definitely not. It can achieve a chorus like effect but its primary function from what I can see is to recreate a double tracked guitar sound live. Apparently it works best with 2 amps in a stereo function vs a single amp which is fine by me honestly. And its on sale right now for $99 on Amazon.

Does any one have any experience with this one?

I like that it gives a pretty convincing double track sound and if you go stereo on it, you can go with a dry signal ( straight into the amp) and a wet signal ( effects in the path) and mix them together, so its almost like having another guitar playing along with you with a completely different setup. For $99? Its worth a looking into a least. Probably gonna order one and try it out ( if it sucks, ill sale it lol)
 
Is the the Mimiq is supposed to be used 'post' preamp to split before other TBE effects, or up front to split to two different amps (assuming you've got them).

I have a space on my board where a Spark Booster used to sit (I hated it).
This might fit in nicely for my stereo setup, but I would need to place it between my TBEs and the preamp in a 5CM rig.

From the TC Electronic video, I think they showed you using it either way, as well as being able to use it in a single amp configuration, but from the demo, it seems to get the best sound in the two amp/stereo configuration.

I maybe ordering one this afternoon myself lol it seems really cool. I dont use a lot of effects as much but i do use them occasionally for certain things, with this it seems like you can mix a wet and dry signal and harmonize them into a cool double track mix
 
This is one of those concepts that has rattled around in my head and someone actually made it into a pedal. It is basically the idea behind a chorus pedal but instead of using a fixed sweep speed, depth, and modulation it is using an algorithm dynamically to simulate the natural chorus you'd get from ovedubbing.

Tom Scholz used his home made doubler and later the rockman stereo chorus for a similar effect but there is no way analog tech could dynamically adjust pitch and delay variances on the fly.

Welp. I'm going to have to give this a try.

@PAFhumbucker yeah Tom Scholz was literally a wiz kid from MIT. He had insane recording ideas that worked masterfully and later became a pretty creative inventor as well. His tricks were great in the studio but like you said, lacked the capability live. This could be the final gap in a live or even a studio setting!

@SG John , definitely! That's the impression i got from it: one guy can sound like 2 or even 3 in the right context. They mention the Randy Rhoads sound alot with this pedal and you can definitely see that, in that he did tricks like this and filled the missing voids of sound
