hi guys

this is the second time that my amp has this issue, when it happened the first time I sent to Marshall for repair. After less than a year(I think) it has the same issue again.

Any idea why this happening?

If I send it to Marshall again it will take month and month till I get my amp back. Will it be better if I take it local amp repair shop?

This amp is getting on my nerves now..

Thanks in advance.

I remember seeing this topic at the Marshall forums a while back i believe? I dont know if anyone ever solved the mystery but i remember some folks saying you could just replace the lighted power switch. However, that doesnt explain why the light is blinking rapidly in the first place.

I will say this from experience on lighting in a different nature ( construction not amp repair lol): the bulbs inside are neon and neon tends to be pretty crappy in consistency. Often, the neon gas isn't charged up enough in the bulb and they heat and fail, typically flashing first then blowing. Ever see movies with a dive bar and the old crappy neon sign outside thats blinking and half the words are burned out? Thats neon in a nutshell!

I would consider at least replacing the switch. You can get one for about $15 no sweat

So does it kill the amp when the light goes out or is just the light in it flashing then dying?

Changing a switch is certainly do-able but theres always precautions involved and thats #1) being extremely careful in making sure the amp is unplugged from the power and safely discharged from the filter caps.

#2) you also gotta solder the wires back on the back of the switch

yeah i think is just a switch i take to amp shop locally here, should be able to fix quickly. when i take things apart i always have leftover screw and parts so i better not... :)
I was reading old posts on all sorts of other forums from searching this topic on line. I dont think ANYONE ever solved why this happened lol the answer is usually " Just change the switch". But theres some fellas here that might have the real answer!

now im searching amp repair service near me. there are few shops but i never trust them again :) can you fly here repair ill give yuo beer say thanks and you fly back? sounds good deal to me :)
Hahaha would if i could brother! If the amp is still screwy come 2022 i might be able to help ya ( might fly over that way, we're still working on it lol)

Ramo my first Marshall 78-79 2104 the light went out, I purchased a new one and with in a month it also failed, after that I just said screw it, never replaced it again.
I know this is a bitch but I let it win, because the amp kicked serious ass .
Cheers to getting your amp back to normal..
Mitch
