In the recent amp shuffle, re learned to appreciate the DSL50. The cab hopping has lead to really getting to know the amps. The HP8 cab & k100's is fantastic & the DSL does old school real nice on Greenbacks. Clean is strai up nice clean. The 2nd stage of that channel i just leave gain dimed & run it NMV style. The Ultra always identified with the channel. M made the decision if i get to go live again its so easy to make this the rig. The board is the "bump" board, not used for gain but EQ shifts. Have the ability to move 5 ways with a stomp. The RC is set to bring bottom up a hair from channel changes. The gain going up thins it a hair but add it back in to suit. On the HP8 only need the bass set on amp 3ish, comes up nice with volume on its on. Simple-consistent amp,DSL50 TH30.jpgPedal marshall fix.jpg
 
As much as i absolutely love the SL-X, the DSL50 is my go to every time. It's a swiss army knife of amplifiers and is grossly overlooked. If you cant get a good sound out of one, its user error plain and simple. I normally use either the Green Channel Crunch with gain around 7, though i have a 12AU7 in this section to make it even more like a NMV and opens the headroom a lot. Red Channel OD1 is my other favorite and the one i use for more gain but not too much at around 4

Nice !! DSL was my first marshall & got me to my tone. The 12au7 has been tempting me but the Jet City 20HV has the lower value tubes for that lower but tight 800ish tone. Might just have to pop one in. Good idea

Oh man the SLX is the perfect amp to launch right after the gain of the DSL. You got those tones covered..i sense a 4 holer in your future !! lol

Man id love to score one of the 4 hole originals! Simple and yet ungodly effective. Your green one is awesome!

It started out a kit, vertical 1987 circuit. Then it went 4 holer 2204 with Trainwreck type PPIMV(as you bring master back it crunches) switch to remove it out of circuit.thing is amazing. then some 77 or 76 Iron came by my tech & put a Hoffman board in & rewired it all. Need to use it more but am not right yet with the cab match. It does just fine but am real close with it, Ended up being more of a screamer than i thought. Paired well with Orange few songs back. want to try it with the Triple recto in a song.Before i got it. Steve Conte used it for a gig, pretty cool
