Turns out they don't pay very much, but the cost of living is lower.
I could rent a 2-3 bedroom house for $600 a month in Ft. Wayne. The same type house is $2500 here in California.
The benefits at Sweetwater I am told are really great, and they sell you gear for dealer cost.
You can eat pretty well in the Sweetwater dining halls for about $5.
So it's something I'm considering.
Overall nationwide the older workers are being pushed out, even more than before the pandemic.

It was a tiny church in Devil's Elbow, Kentucky...
California is indeed expensive....but I would never trade being able to live on a lush, green mountainside, then hop on my XR500R and be here in 90 minutes of riding...

The problem is regulations.
In this state, a technician is nailed down by all types of legal problems.
Basically they try to stop electronics from being repaired and they hate the noise of guitar amps.
The government would outlaw electric guitars...they obviously despise pro sound.
If there was a state where a guitar amp tech could work without all the bull poop regulations, and just do his thing, I would go there.
I make lots of noise when I work on amps.
I don't know if such a place exists anymore.
