Got my rockabilly on

Bought myself an Epiphone Swingster for a Christmas present. A local chain store had it on special $300 off with six months no interest. I’ve been gassing for a hollow body for a while. It has Epiphone Alnico V Swingbucker pickups. The pickup coils are wired in parallel internally like a Gretsch. Pull up the tone knobs and the coils are wired in series like a regular humbucker. It came with a wound G string for that authentic rockabilly sound. The Bigsby actually stays in tune. First time I've used a Bigsby that stays in tune. I'll try to post some sound samples tomorrow.

Can’t push the Traynor to breakup in the house but it sounds sweet. It sounds unreal with the 1 watt Blackstar on the vain channel.
Yeah, don't know what I was thinkin' Lol.

That thing would probably take a couple frequencies from your hearing that loud.

It's still the most daddy-o, it's boss for getting the Betty's to eyeball you.

I speak fluent Rockabilly Lol, we're all bi-lingual in Az

Most rockabilly players got rid of the wound G and used a banjo string for the top E pretty early on. ;) The slightly thinner sound is part of the archtop charm, they sound different to a flat top with a sound hole. Tighter, less boomy and more focussed when you're the other (ie audience) side of them.

I may try that eventually. Intonation may be a problem with the G though. The bridge is pinned.

I have 9s on my 1950s archtops and the bridge saddles aren't adjustable at all, just get the best intonation I can on the E strings.

Cool guitar! I have a friend with an old (not sure of the year) Kalamazoo arch top. It has a very pronounced V neck. Strangely I really liked the neck when I played it. Love the tone of old arch tops.

I inherited it, it was Uncle Jack's, it's in pieces at the moment, neck and fingerboard needed sorting out. The other was inherited from Dad, it's the "stolen guitar" that I learned to play on, it's in dire need of a neck reset.

Both from around 56 or 57, maybe new, more likely bought secondhand.
